Question Freaking out about what kind of board to get! Help please :)

I'm looking to get a new board, but I'm pretty confused. So maybe someone can help!

I'd call myself an intermediate rider. I've been riding a cheapie DBX board for the past 3 years and I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm sure it doesn't compare to an actual nice board. I am decent on the mountain and I'm really getting interested in riding in the park. I've started some rails and small jumps.

I want a board that will give me confidence and allow me to progress in the park, but I still enjoy just shredding down the mountain too, and that's what a lot of my friends do when I go out so I spend time on both the slopes and terrain park. Also, I usually go to places like Holiday Valley in NY and other east coast stuff. I don't really plan on going out west and I've heard there's a difference.

As for me, I'm 5'4" and about 120 lbs. I'm thinking 144-146 cm.

I've been looking at the K2 Luna, Burton Lux, Rome Vinyl and Jett, and I think the Forum Star. I know there are other good brands out there too. I'm so confused! LOL. I'm not really sure if I prefer stiffness or flexibility or pop and all those things I keep reading about.... Like I said, I've just been riding a cheap board from Dick's Sporting Goods for the past few years.

Also... I have LTD bindings which work fine for me now, but should I be looking into something different?

My budget is pretty tight, but it seems that I've found all of these models in the 2008 version for very reasonable.

Any advice on what to get would be helpful! Thanks in advance!

You sound like you have board sizes down fine. As for boards, you'll probably be happy with most major names. Obviously, they will be better than Lamar (if that's what you're riding). I am a big fan of Rome. After my experiences with them, I'll probably never buy anything else. I'm very loyal as long as the company treats me well.

The best advice I could give you is to demo some boards. If your budget is limited, search for a last season new board. I never buy new season stuff because it is more expensive and usually not different enough to make it worth the price. I bought a season old Anthem for $250 and a season old Design for $333. Good prices.
