Burton T6 or Lib Tech Dark Side?

I am completely new to the forum and I’m looking for some deck advice. The guy at the shop has set aside both a Burton T6 162 and Lib Tech Dark Side 161 decks for me, so I was hoping to get some opinions before I make a final decision.

I am a bigger guy: 5’8” 180lbs and I’m currently riding a Burton BMC 164. I like to charge the hill, going for big air and hitting whatever powder I can on the east coast. I’m not a rail/pipe enthusiast.

In any case... the guys at the shop were REALLY pushing the lib tech magne-traction and reverse camber technologies.

Does anyone have any advice? Lib tech doesn’t have any demo days on the east (that I can find) and I don’t know that I can justify dumping that kind of cash on a deck that I’ve never tried before.

So, Burton T6 or Lib Tech Dark Side? Please help.

ok So the Burton T6 is a good board if you haul ass and if you hit 50ft kickers but its not forgiving at all its super stiff not your rookie board.

Lib is my opinion the best boards out!!! GNU and LIB tech are made by Mervin in Canada and Wshington they are hand made for Christ sake! With the magnatraction you will fall in love I personally like the reverse camber but you can get them in regular aswell. just a better all around board and your not just payin a arm and leg for a brand name like Burton

I'm all for Lib Tech's reverse camber & Magna-traction. I'm 6'1, 215 & 10.5 boot and I'm riding a 159 Lib Tech Skate Banana (mostly park board) that has both and it's amazing. It performs a lot better than a standard board of the same size in every condition I've had a chance to ride it in so far. I'm from NC so I know what EC riding is like and I would definitely say go with a Lib Tech deck, but I'm not sure why the shop guy is pushing the Dark Series so hard?

You might want to consider a GNU Altered Genetics (uses the same tech as Lib as they are both owned by Mervin), Rider's Choice or maybe Lib Tech TRS. AG is about the same as a Dark Series but a little cheaper. The RC and TRS are both good decks and almost $100 cheaper than either the AG or Dark Series.

Just my 2 cent

Dark series is not the same it has a stiffer tail and nose as well as a orbital throttle which is when the wood under your feet is cross grained from the board it self giving you WAY better edge control. But dont get a skate banana those are the bottm of the heap LIB TECH and are only for lil guys or park boards too soft for your size to be your all mountain board. GNU Riders choice also is a killer board ask anyone who has riden it.

I can't comment on the dark board, but the T6 is a beast of a board. My buddy had one (which made me get one) and you can just throw it around and attack any slope. It was great on bump runs and really fun on the groomers if you want to dig some trenches and really put an edge into the hill. Mine is older now but I still take it out when the time is right.
