155 too small?
Hi, I have a question regarding a snowboard that my fiance and I are interested in purchasing. The snowboard is a 155. My concern is that the board will be too small for him, so I just wanted some more opinions since I am not really sure. Below I put info about him.
Height: In between 6'0 and 6'1
Boot size: 13
Riding: Beginner (he has snowboarded about 10 times)
We only ride once or twice a year, and go on easier mountains with mostly man made snow here in Michigan, he doesn't usually do any pipes or tricks, just rides down the hill. We are getting a really good deal on a used board, so thats why we are even looking to purchase, but we don't want to buy this board if it's going to be too small for him. Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated so much!
its gonna be too small....both for his weight and size.
Bigger concern whether the board is too narrow - with size 13 boots he should probably be on a wide board (manufacturers typically make regular and wide versions of most boards - he will need the latter).
If I were you, I'd try to get a larger board. Like mentioned above, the board will probably be too narrow for his boots. This means he will get overhang and won't be able to lean into a turn very hard without falling. It's worth it to spend a bit more and get a larger and wider board. If you're spending money on lift tickets already, you don't want to ruin the experience on a board that's not quite right for you (or him in this case). Manufacturers usually make nice beginner/cost-effective boards that would work much better for him.
