so i just got the new 09 Burton Bullet, and i took it out just once. (This was my first time using the board) I took it into the terrain park hit up some boxes and rails and it worked fine. Now, i know the edges are supposed to get a little thrashed, but is this normal wear and tear for a first time out with the new board? The pictures are of the nose of the board.

Looks like you had to hit and/or drag something pretty good to do that. Even so, from the looks of it mostly cosmetic damage, nothing performance wise affected on the board unless there's more to what I can see on the metal edge of the board mating with the core.

yeah its not terrible. i did a little worse last year to a new board thanks to a rock about 2 inches below the fresh pow. looks like you may have dinged a rail, box, or rock. you probably will want a shop tech to repair that though. it shouldnt be but about 25 bucks . you dont wanna keep riding it and hit it again or even worse expose it to all the moisture on the hill.
just to clarify id get that repaired if the layers seem to be split. if its just your topsheet its not as big of a deal. |

youd be surprised how much damage you take in the lift lines by folks who feel they have to be in your back pocket ( and all over your board ). it could have happened there especially if its superficial

How do you guys stand in the lift line to avoid this kind of damage? I've tried to position myself to the outside edge of the lane usually so my board is under the safety rope if there is one and not in the middle of the pathway.

Look at it this way, if you treat your board like a brand new car, you're in the wrong sport
It's going to get chipped up inevitably. First day on the first board, not usually, but first time for everything I guess.
