Boa

I have a pair of K2 Raider BOA's and had the cable on the BOA broke last year. I took it in to have it fixed and the guy tried to tell me they never break. My first ride out this year the cable breaks again. Am I doing something wrong or has anyone else had a bad experience with boots using the BOA.
I make sure i don't dig my edge into the boot on the lifts just for that specific reason.
