ride board? what size?

Hey -

I am a 5''11" female, weigh about 143, and wear a men's 10.5 shoe. I'm a complete beginner, and would like to get a board I can use for a couple of years. I''m not really interested in turnpike or tricks.

Is a 158 cm board too long for me? What do you guys recommend?

I found a RIDE SNOWBOARD 2007 - FLEETWOOD SERIES158 inch board on sale in my area for $150, what do you think?

Thanks in advance!

I would say 158 might be a LITTLE long. But if you're wanting a board that you can keep riding for a few years and you plan on hitting the mountain, that probably isn't a terrible size. I learned on a 158, but I'm 180. I ended up getting a 165 for deeper snow. So I think you could be ok. Since you're pretty tall, if you can find a women's board that size, you should have fairly good control over it if your stance is wide enough.

Length alone isn't the only thing to consider. Waist/tip/tail width, sidecut radius...you should do some more research before you buy a board.
