So I'm going tomorrow to a couple of stores to try on some snowboard boots tomorrow. Besides finding a pair that fits, keep my feet warm, are comfortable/don't cause pain, and fit my price range, is there anything else I should be worried about? Also, besides an open mind and a pair of thick socks, should I bring anything else with me?

You do not need thick socks with a well fitting boot. Just be sure to bring the socks you plan to wear when riding - or get some new ones for to fit with your new boots. My favorites are Thorlo snowboarder socks - pretty thin & warm, but made to be worn inside a boot.
