Nitro Reverbs. Too big for me?

Hi guys,
Today I went to the local snowstore (australia) and got some Nitro reverbs for $340 (this is aus. thats normal). They are comfortable but my toe JUST touches the end and moves away about 0.5cm when I bend. I usually wear a 12 and these are 12.5, im worried that being cheaper boots they will pack out a tonne (3 months in japan) and also be slightly too soft. The guy at the store told me that my toe should be touching the end when i buy them, he seemed to know his stuff but since i dont i could have just been strung along.

Should I return them and try for a smaller boot? The only reason I didnt order from the US (i did for the rest of my gear) is that boot fit is quite personal and i thought id stomach the extra cost to get well fitting boots.
