Actually toting a shotgun would round out the look you're going for. Or maybe a musket.

I'd still not throw paint at you if I saw you wearing that as a fashion statement on the hill, as I respect you as a human just as I respect an animal to the point of not consuming them. If anything, I'd wonder why you wouldn't consider another way. Hence why I suggested the faux fur option.

Faux will wear better against the elements anyway; won't stink upon getting wet and will likely dry faster. Plus, you'll have more options in color, pattern, etc. It'll be far more available than animal fur and an easy option. Probably easier to work with (affixing to your gear) as well.
I definitely wouldn't buy anything from a factory farm or place like that, I was looking more at local guys who hunt and sell pelts or an old coat I could craft into a hat.

Why not wool? Considering sheep aren't hurt during the collection of wool.

I just don't wear wool because it's scratchy.

If you want to get fur on the cheap find a animal shelter than euthanizes and ask them for some dog/cat pelts. Then you can ride around with a pussy pelt on your head and claim it's a giant pussy crown!
Lmao.

I love the conversations I get into with the people around here, I'm sure breck is similar, that love animals more than anything. They ask advice for what to do with a sick dog.... I say shoot them and save another from the shelter that's young and healthy.

Burgers for lunch, ribeye for dinner tonight.

Peoples beloved humane shelters probably kill more animals than the fur farms

The problem is when they are shorn, it's often when the temps are still too cold in their region. It's factory farming type mentality and puts the animal's health at risk. There's also the concern of the how the animals are treated when shorn. Ever met a sheep? They're a bit squirrely. To get the job done, some may have to employ less than kind techniques. The stress of such handling can affect their health and well-being.

However, if you purchase/wear wool from a local shepard or farm, chances are they will not put their flock's health at risk (can't sustain the loss of their animals) and they generally have a rapport with their animals as well.

Might want to see how exactly they obtained the animal if it matters to you. Unless it's larger game (comparatively) like fox, possible snares or traps were used.

Problem there is people over-breeding and/or not spaying or neutering. Entirely different situation but a sad one nonetheless.

This logic then should apply to humans as well!

Sorry but dogs, cats, horses, sheep, cows, chickens, deer..... Are not humans and it's disgusting when I see people treat their ANIMALS better than they treat their kids, spouses, family or other people.

I worked in a vets office for a few years, a shelter and I had animals in the family for most of my life but they are animals.

I think we should probably neuter and spay some people too though....

Same here, and I don't really mind if traps and snares are used, if the animal gets caught in one it deserves it, it's natural selection, the farms I don't like though. I think if your going to get all hot and bothered over animals you'd be a hypocrite not to go full vegan seeing as what's the difference between a dog horse mouse flea etc. like the PETA motto.
ANYWAY though does anybody have any sources for fur, real or not, that I could use for a helmet cover?

Check out a Joanne's or Michael's art & craft or fabric store! I'm almost certain you could find some faux fur there!

....as for the other comments! I treat animals (...and most kids,) WAY better than people because an animal has never once gone out of it's way to Fuck Me Over just for the sheer sadistic pleasure of it!

Can't say the same for the rest of humanity!
