Default FS: Brand New Very Rare Limited Edition Craig Kelly Burton Mystery 155cm 2012

Brand New Very Rare Limited Edition Craig Kelly Burton Mystery 155cm 2012 Snowboard

For riders who know the history, the original Mystery Air carries special significance in Burton's collaboration with the late Craig Kelly. So we thought the first secret concoction from Craig's- our new R and D facility- should carry his first unofficial graphic. The art is a throwback but inside it's all high-tech, with micro-tuned ingredients, and carbon blends netting Burton's lightest weight board to date. It's a bit mysterious, but rides snappy and surfy- a fun result that would make Craig proud.

Features:

Flying V
Stainless Frostbite Edges
Infinite Ride
Pro-Tip
The Channel
Twin Flex
Heli Package
Directional Shape
Multizone EGD
Ultrafly Core
Methlon Base

Brought in 2012 for $1749.99 brand New from Canada, this is a very rare item and you won't find one like this anywhere on the net.

Never been used, still in original clear cover.
Once it's gone it's gone

I understand the hype you try to put on this board, and why you think it is worth some money, but i don't get it...

Why is this board worth so much more...??? It is a snowboard, and for that sort of money i would want it to make me a bloody snowboarding GOD with no work...

I don't see it as worth that much, it is 2 years old now, and while still unused, unless a serious collector, has no value at all, which probably means collectors already have this is it is what they want, i don't think anyone would see it at the same value, maybe i'm wrong.

Personally, and don't take this the wrong way, i see this as a marketing ploy to sell overprice junk to people who know no better for obscene amounts of money, just like Burton do with there other collections, i have a friend who has 2 of the Pamela Anderson boards that where 600 each, he rides one, and has stored the other, thinking the value would go up, and now he is looking for another mug who will pay well over the odds for it, unfortunately, all he is found is scorn, and people laughing at him...

Would be interesting to see the end result...

Just out of interest, why did you buy it originally...???

Thank you for your message, here is my answer.

Q: I understand the hype you try to put on this board, and why you think it is worth some money, but i don't get it...
A: As you can see that this is not an ordinary snowboard that you can walk into a shop to buy off the shelf's, for a board that cost $1749.99 new do you think it's only going to be worth $200? i don't think so mate.
For example if you had brought a Porsche 911 for lets say $100k do you think that after 2 years it's gonna be worth $20k?

Q: Why is this board worth so much more...??? It is a snowboard, and for that sort of money i would want it to make me a bloody snowboarding GOD with no work...
A: You will have to ask Burton Snowboards why the sold these Burton Mystery boards for so much, as for people who brought it, it's either because
they have the money or they are collectors item.

Q: I don't see it as worth that much, it is 2 years old now, and while still unused, unless a serious collector, has no value at all, which probably means collectors already have this is it is what they want, i don't think anyone would see it at the same value, maybe i'm wrong.
A: You say it has no value at all so are you saying i should give it away for FREE? tell me how much it is worth then?
If you had brought a Burton Mystery 2012 board for $1749.99 how much would you sell it?

Q: Personally, and don't take this the wrong way, i see this as a marketing ploy to sell overprice junk to people who know no better for obscene amounts of money, just like Burton do with there other collections, i have a friend who has 2 of the Pamela Anderson boards that where 600 each, he rides one, and has stored the other, thinking the value would go up, and now he is looking for another mug who will pay well over the odds for it, unfortunately, all he is found is scorn, and people laughing at him...
A: Everything Any company sells use marketing to sell their products, just because people who have the money to buy expensive things doesn't mean they don't know no better. everyone has their own opinion, as for all those hates out there they can laugh all they like, it doesn't bother me at all.

Q: Just out of interest, why did you buy it originally...???
A: I am a very big fan of Craig Kelly hence the reason why i brought this board to hang up on my wall, i wanted to use it last year but i got injured whilst Skiing in Canada and can no longer go snowboarding ever again.

I don't really see the mystery as a collectible, maybe the first year still in the wrapper for those who collect boards like stamps, but it's not that limited in its production, and they have made it for 3 years now. In addition this year they killed off the Vapor and replaced it with a cambered mystery, which makes logical sense for their product line, but again speaks to the mystery as a real product meant to be ridden rather than collected.

These type of boards have as their main redeeming feature ultra light weight, and this means a relatively costly product due to expensive materials, and high production cost. I also think that they do make a serious effort in terms of the shape and flex of the board. Paired with a light set of bindings like diodes the mystery is a sweet setup, you hardly notice it on your feet, and the edge to edge transition is very quick. I really like mine, bought the board and bindings nearly new and paid bit less than half the retail price.

It won't make you a snowboarding god with no work but it helps to have a good tool on your feet and I think that mine helps me to ride incrementally better. These boards aren't aimed at the top top end rider, more at strong intermediates, weekend warrior yuppies with the budget for them. In my view the custom x is the deck for the hard core charging rider from the burton line, while the mystery and vapor are high end boards for strong intermediates.

Speaking of high end boards I had a look at jones flagship yesterday in a store, looks like a serious weapon to me. Probably too stiff for my riding style but I might do a demo.

I wasn't saying that you shouldn't get that sort of money, but i don't think you will, it is now a 2 year old board that is selling for NEW price, and i don't get it...

I can walk into a shop and buy a 2014 version of the same board for the same money, would i...???

No, i would buy a board i want to ride, and abuse, and i can buy 3 of those for the same money and have a lot more fun doing so.

I just don't get why people would buy that type of board in the 1st place, that is what i am getting at...
