So I wanna get a jacket, preferably used in good condition.. looking to spend around $70 to 80, can stretch if i really like the jacket.
i am 5' 10' 160 so im thinking a medium? correct me if im wrong.. I am also looking for board+bindings+boots i am kind of a beginner, so I don't know much about the biz. i wear 9.5 size shoes, so im guessing the boot size is the same. but with board lengths im lost. I'd appreciate some help. maybe spending around 150 for the whole deal? again im learning so i dont wanna spend tons of money on stuff that's gonna get rough.

Boots are the one piece of gear you don't want to gamble on. Each brand fits different and riding on the wrong size will make you hate yourself after the first 20 minutes. If you have to, search around the forums for boots that fit true to shoe size.
Find your size by trying on in your local shop and buy that exact make/model/size either there or online. Unfortunately, $150 is unrealistic. A decent deal on a used board from the last couple years may run you $130-250 alone. If you're including the whole hardware setup + outerwear (clothes), be prepared to spend a very conservative $400-500 on used gear. Snowboarding is a great but expensive sport. hwa is right, at best 150 can get you a new board from a shitty throwaway brand like LTD, Lamar, Morrow, etc. And you don't want one of those...
I have a setup that is near brand new (Rossignol Scope 153 cm brand new still in plastic) with Burton Freestyle bindings (size Large, used for two days) that I'm thinking of selling. I bought the board in the summer on a whim at a ski sale for 170 bucks but ended up wanting another board. I'm thinking of selling the board and bindings on this forum for 200. I also have near-identical stats to you (5' 10' and 160 lbs but size 10.5 feet/boots) so I think the board will fit fine Last edited by rainboarding; 12-08-2010 at 08:48 PM. |
