Possibly a Donek Saber with metal construction? Possibly Gentemstick Maxforce although it looks like it only comes in one size, and I can't find a price anywhere.

The Volkl actually looks like quite a decent carving/freeride board and it's cheap! (relatively speaking)



So at the moment I'm most intrigued by the Avalanche FLP AFT (or just the straight FLP), or the Oxess Freeride. If those end up being too expensive (I'd say the upper end of my comfort zone is $750 or so) then the Volkl might be my next choice. Thoughts? I'll throw these back to iGet.it and see what they say.

Volkl looks nice, but i'd prefer something longer then 168.. And it looks like top-level freeride boards, like a-frame-supermodel-raptor etc.. And kessler-oxess looks more exotic to me. that's only my opinion though...

Virus is sweeeet. (any of them). AFAIK there's vius UFC up to 180cm. that's UFC model. UFC boardercross is wider and for soft boots.
AFT and FLP AFT is a superb choice too.

you're right, we should make, liky you said comfort zone, and choose what board we can get with a discounts. $750 sounds right for me.

I doubt about Donek. Sean makes custom board for customers needs, and i doubt he will make a big discount. bigger manufacturers who makes not-custom board can go fot it.
Amplid max length is 163, that's too small for freeride and carving.

I just e-mailed the iGet.it guys again, but I'm getting tired of waiting so I also just e-mailed Oxess, Virus and Volkl directly to see if they'll respond.

My bindings came in the other day so I need something to strap them into!

Here's my order of preference: Thoughts?

1) Virus Avalanche FLP AFT
2) Oxess Freeride
3) Volkl Coal XT

Wow, heard back from Virus quick! They'll give us 20% off the prices on their website. EU-160 shipping to get all boards to me. The exchange rate between the Euro and CAD/USD is about 0.78 right now, so that puts the boards at about this price (plus shipping).

Avalanche FLP AFT - $1132
Avalanche FLP - $1030
Avalanche FR Freeride - $771
Ultimate Freecarve - $1234

Now those prices include tax, and I'm not sure how it works with the VAT being 15% or so, and my local taxes are only 5% so I'm not sure if I could apply for a rebate?

At the moment the FLP AFT is sitting $200 lower than the Kessler Ride MSRP. I was really hoping for much lower than that as the price of admission...

Lets see what the other manufacturers say, or maybe iGet.it can get a better deal?

I would not get my hopes up with the iGet.it guys. While they do have group-buys, their focus is not oin really saving money/offering low prices, but rather they are about carrying lifestyle products that people might not have access to or might not be aware of. Price is not really something they pay a lot of attention - in fact, plenty of the stuff they sell is more expensive than from many other (r)etailers. The Kessler deal last year was really a bit of aberration.

about VAT: i live off EU and US and i don't have to pay any VAT. That's true for cellphones, and i believe for a boards too. I believe VAT is a bit highr, like 18%.

If you can post prices in euro? Just for comparsion.
I suggest prices in list doesn't include shipping, right? so we split Eu160 for all the boards, right? then we gotta count how many of us, like to buy it. It makes difference 4 or 20 people.

Update:
Germany have 19% VAT, so you can get this off buying stuff in Germany for export. That's 98% true =)
On import every country have it's own taxes. I don't know about US but i need to pay only if value exceed 1000Euro. It's complicated thing about US. US residents will help.

Fair enough, that Lacroix snowboard is significantly cheaper than MSRP though. But maybe the MSRP is over inflated? I just want to figure out something soon or I'll start looking for a board on my own.

Thanks for the tax info. If we got them all sent to me I only pay 5% tax, not sure how it would work re-sending them out from there. I imagine Canadians would be fine but US guys might have to pay tax as it crossed the boarder?

Here are the prices in Euro's -20%. This is including VAT so if that can come off too then we're closer to the price range I was hoping for.

I e-mailed Virus again to ask about the VAT, if that also comes off, I'm only looking at $900 for the FLP AFT (plus tax and shipping) and that I could handle.

If there's 5 of us buying we'd be looking at about $40 a board to ship to me, and then shipping out from me. No idea what shipping would be like to get them shipped to each buyer directly from Virus.
