no its not just a shell. it is also insulated. Its is actually very warm.

Im think I should be a size Small. I am only 5'6. How big does the jacket fit. I know some smalls and mediums are kinda close in size depending on the model. THanks.

Im actually 5'4 and it is a tad bit big, I think it should fit you fine since i'm shorter
