i was at Blue Mountain on the 6th and 7th for some snowboarding, it was pretty early in the season according to the locals...Still, there was a fair bit of powder on the slopes! I reckon it will be pretty sweet by now and over the coming weeks.
I was riding at Alpine Ski Club in Collingwood today.
I was totally shocked that the conditions were fantastic, instead of icy and crusty, given all the warm daytime temperatures followed by freezing temperatures overnight.
Not sure how long this will last though - forecast is for rain and above zero temperatures over the next few days up there.
I live rarely close to southern Ontario and my home resort is doing fantastic snow wise even though there has been a huge heat wave in our region. In about a week and a half temperatures will be back to normal.
I was at Osler Bluff Ski Club today.
Day started out with very good, slightly soft conditions.
Of course, the snow became softer as the day went on and the temperature stayed around 4C.
Still, a good day of riding, and definitely better than ice!
I wish the private clubs would open their terrain parks mid-week.:frown:
I hit MSLM late this afternoon / early evening for about 3 hrs. Conditions were excellent given the swamp like weather we have had for the past week or so.
It was snowing the whole time I was there which made for soft conditions. Crowd was almost yo / yo, making for excellent lap times.
Now if we can just get the sun to come out at some time soon. Seems like we haven't seen it for weeks.
First time it snows in three weeks, in January on the year of the 'classic Canadian winter', and you want the clouds to go away?!!!
I don't know about everyone else but I don't care if I see the sun until May (serious accumulations rarely coincide with clear skies and sun). Ride in the shade!
@Oldman I did stop the chairlift once getting on. Sorry about that. My sons and my highbacks got in the way and I couldn't push off and there were skis everywhere. I got a lecture from the lifty on how to line up properly. It was quite funny.
Just walked in the door after 3.5 hours at MSLM. Yesterday clearly carried over to today as conditions were epic. Soft snow everywhere, pillow lines along the snow fences and not many there to poach my line.
Going to try to get up there again on Wednesday, but might slip over to Blue instead. For sure something before the weekend as the temps are forecast to go to +5 Saturday & +7 Sunday.
Nothing like spring conditions in Mid February. Mind you, for the Family Day weekend, many folks will be thrilled.

You could join me at Devil's Glen on Wednesday. I'm going up with my club on the bus as usual. I can take a guest. Full day though - bus leaves Toronto at 7:00 am, and usually not back to your car until 7:00 pm.
This stretch has not been good, that is for sure. I was last up at MSLM on Friday and conditions were the best of the season.
There will be snow loss that is for sure, but the base is enough that we should be ok until the end of March. This warm spell is going to end on the weekend and with some cold nights coming up, they will spot make snow in the thinner areas to get through.
Remember, March break is big for all of the resorts, so they will make sure there is enough snow
Was at MSLM the last 2 days..warm during the day but very ideal at night time. The temperature must swung like 8C during this period (+5 to -3).
I was getting my binding fixed at the repair shop and one of the guys who worked there said last family day, they were snowboarding and it was -55C. Not surprisingly, they were the only ones on the hill.
My account is back! Sorry about that. Sometimes my dramarama gets out of control, like the crazy in me gets a little out of control. I can't tame it, wish I could. Anyway, my crazy seems to have subsided so they let me back here.
I was at Glen Eden yesterday for a bit. It was so shockingly awesome!!!!! I was very impressed with how much snow they have. Had so much fun
Looking forward to rocking a week at Red Mountain, with a day at Whitewater. Snow gods show me love!
Have one friend so disgusted with Onterrible last week he went off to Jackson Hole solo this week, two queens to himself, just like that lol. We're going to do better at planning next year.
Apparently, that is, 'they' are saying, 'this' is the new normal, so 1)get use to 'this'... 2)prepare for it get worse (eek).

Its been puking @ Whitewater the last few days (50 cms in the last 48 hours) - supposed to keep snowing all week (Red is in the same boat) - looks like your timing couldn't be better. I'm jealous
Rode last weekend @ Hidden Valley - it was pure ice. Gave up after an hour.
After 3 winters of living out West, i can safely say that riding in ONT is the worst :angry1:
I hope your friend has a better time at Jackson Hole than I did.
Was there last week.
Apparently, the Presidents' Day Holiday Monday becomes Presidents' Day Holiday Week for some.
The lift lines were stupidly large.
Tuesday the lifts were closed due to high winds - seriously high winds!
The snow at the top half of the resort was good enough but visibility was poor.
The visibility at the bottom half was good but the snow was crappy.
Overall, I can't say that I would rush back to Jackson Hole.
The day we went to Grand Targhee was easily the best for the entire group with whom I travelled.
I have avoided jackson for the past 4 years, crowds there are pretty ridiculous. The feel of the tram going up is great. I love tram rides with a good crowd on a good pow day, with good music. Jackson and snowbird are great. I usually get to the Jackson tram line by 7 and grab some coffee and breakfast. First tram then stay up high.
We are heading to grand targhee at the end of march, rather than go over to jackson we are going up to big sky for a couple days after the competition.

I don't know how to edit my post but I wanted to say I will call it shit if it is. Like a couple of weeks ago, maybe it was the 15th, my kids and I went out for the evening and it was crap. Omg. So so bad. I hit a giant patch of ice, washed out my heel side and slid off the run into the trees and landed in the mud...and under the chair too. I was covered in what looked like cow dung. Needless to say we didn't stay long lol. It was so gross. All the boots everything mud. I was not a happy momma washing everything that night.
Blue will be going for at least this week and maybe (probably) next week. I was out today and it was cold and firm. They could get snow tonight too. 2 lifts are spinning and they want to get the north lift spinning on the weekend too. Next week, they will push all the remaining snow to the silver bullet lift and drop to 3-4 runs but spring riding is super fun and if its warm and sunny then it can be some of the best days of the season. Don't put your gear away yet! I'll be out tomorrow, Sunday, Monday, and maybe even Wednesday.
