Default Quite the "winter"

So...not exactly what any of us were expecting or hoping for I am sure but there was some snow in some places I hear. How was your year? Where'd you ride, season still on, make good progress, great days with your friends? I had a pass at Pakenham, they closed on the 18th. Also hit Camp Fortune and Cascades.Cascades today was pretty fun. Not much open but in surprisingly good shape. I missed pretty much all of mid January into mid February to a lung infection so an already short season was even shorter. But I rode. The conditions often sucked. Winter started late and ended early. I didn't progress near as much as I had hoped but I was sliding on snow and that's all that really matters in the end.

i spent the last three days riding in 75 degree weather getting lobsterized. it's mid march and the hills are washing out in torrents like you would normally see in may. even tuckerman's and gulf of slides are starting to fall apart already. all you can do is just keep getting out there till there's nothing left- which looks like will be soon. supposed to be in the eighties wednesday. crazy shit.

my season's been over since 3/10. Rumor has it there is some snow left up north but it is a 4+hr drive and with our first kid on the way any day now I am on lockdown until next winter. But fuck it's been just as warm up there so even if I could get up there it would not be worth the drive.

I think we opened on or about December 10 so it was a pretty short season and I got 32 days in, all in Michigan (no trips West this year, see aforementioned baby).

Overall, the shitty weather was definitely a mixed bag... Spring laps all season long. I don't think I wore a jacket except maybe 2 days. I didn't ride a single icy park lap all season, so that was cool. And the constant threat of rain pushed me to ride as often as I could get away with. I'm disappointed because of the earlier than usual end to this season. Also lack of snow meant no urban or backyard sessions which are always fun and I am finally good/confident enough on rails to hit a legit urban one (I think) so that's a bummer.

Hopefully I am heading out to a tramp/foam pit session this week, and will be doing more of that over the summer and some indoor jib park stuff to stay dialed in for next year.

My last day will be either Saturday or Sunday while my local hill is having their pond skimming competition. I take that as hint they'll be closed after the weekend.
