Thats awesome. I am from Calgary and my best bud lives at the base of Blue Mountain. I have not seen him for a long, long time and would love to kick it with him on the slopes - with adequate snow cover of course.
Was at Blue yesterday, snowed all day and they had the guns on, it was awesome. Went pretty early and almost no line ups till kids starting falling off the lifts around 11 am
I haven't been to Blue yet this year - missed the first 'round' of snow but it looks like all that talk of a "cold, snowy winter" was the usual media BS - this weekend's gonna melt it all away
I'm thinking of hitting up Tremblant this weekend - but will a high of 7 deg. ruin the snow out there? Thoughts?
The base is thick enough at blue that they will get through a warm spell. When temps drop they can make a lot of snow quickly to patch things up as needed.
Conditions in Tremblant will be fine if it's warm there too but it may be rainy if above zero, depends on how you feel about rain.
^ thanks, and lol, I'm not a fan of it... def. not worth the overnight 5 1/2 hour drive to get there.
I guess I'll consider Blue or Holiday Valley this Sunday, depending on who gets less rain on Saturday.
I remember the winter of '06-'07 and '07-'08 there were some SERIOUS pow days at Blue... at least twice a year it'd happen; 30cm of fresh pow on a weekend-day morning, and very few people cuz everyone was scared to drive there, haha
One big storm and it's winter in Ontario!!! okay okay I kid I kid... But seriously, what are you all still doing in Ontarible? I grew up there, then I saw the light...
Just because they are calling for temps over 10 for one day doesn't mean winter is gone. Actually its not such a bad thing for a little thaw so the lakes can stay open and not ice over. When temps drop back to average it means we'll have some more lake effect white fluffy powder...
