How are the local hills closer to Toronto when there's no snow? I'm talking about places like Glen Eden.

Hey East coasters
I'm heading out to Montreal for a week in Jan, tossing up whether to pack the snowboard. Was hoping for a bit of info:
* How far (and which) are the nearest mountains from Montreal? I won't have a car
* Is it pricey (in comparison to BC mountains - not Whistler!!)
and, thirdly, and quite possibly most importantly,
* Are beer prices closer to BC or AB prices? BC beer tax sucks balls

Cheers in advance

Went to Louis yesterday from about 945 to 215, for my first time out. It was a ton of fun, the snow was still pretty fresh in the morning but by the end of the day it was super icy, like you could see it from the lift as you were going up. They seemed to be in mid-season form despite it only being december and sdespite the fact that there is no snow anywhere else. Got to try out my new K2 autoevers, which were tons of fun.
Hoping to head out to horseshoe or lakeridge tomorrow because they are open on christmas day and in this case being jewish has its perks.

at least where i was out west, liquor and beer were cost more than it does in ontario, and quebec is usually at least a buck or two cheaper than ontario, so i'd say its closer to AB
