Progression question for older riders

I started riding kinda late in life (37) so I was wondering if some of you guys that have been riding for a long time if it ever gets stale? I've been riding wake a lot longer and this year it just started to seem kind of boring. When I started I pushed myself hard to learn new tricks, and perfect my techniques, making things look smooth, and effortless. Everything came pretty natural to me, and I got good quick, but now years later I find I am pulling the same sets I've pulled for years. I have no place to go with wake, unless I break down and get a boat with a bigger wake, even then, who knows.

I guess that's why I've been focusing more on snow, with the varied terrain it's always an adventure. I know I'm limited in some things just cause of my age(41) I'm sure I'll never double cork anything, or make it much past a 540 for spins. I was just looking for some insights from some of the older guys around here. Does it ever get old?

I rarely get to ride and id like to build a backyard setup with either powderpak or astroturf but i dont know how much material to buy or what dimensions to build my setup. Im wanting to build a roll in then a flat area then small kicker and a rail. But as i said i dont know how big to build my stuff.

the rail is small about 4 1/2 - 5 feet long to give you an idea of what im wanting to hit. so if you have any ideas or advice about dimensions or anything like that. and any extra info you need ill reply so please lemme know.

So last year I was throwing 180s comfortably and I ended my season almost getting 360s down. Since then ive ben hitting the gym hard and I've added alot of new muscle. I've toned out alot but now I can't huck a 360 standing anymore ironicly I've lost 20 pounds but I can't huck a 360 from my stance anymore. I can do a 180 from my stance but last season with my boots on I could throw a 360 standing. I think ive gotten too top heavy lifting. Anybody know of anything I can do too improve my hitching before the season starts

I have been trying to figure out what these are called. Andreas Wiig, Eero Ettala, Marku Koski and many other riders do these so often in their video parts. Essential their backside cork 7's or 9's but their corking off of their heel, would that consider it as a rodeo?

Anyways, heres a perfect clip of Marku Koski sending 2 of these. Switch backside ____ 7 and then Backside ____ 9

This Video Sucks - Fredu Sirvio et Markku Koski 4/7 Snowboard 2010 on Vimeo

at 2:03 is where the two hits are. Just curious on what those are called. Because naturally you would cork over your toes for backside, but he is corking over his heels (opposite edge).

My 8yr old son (almost 9)is begging for me to take him snowboarding this year. I finally gave and said I would. Few issues here: I am fairly new, and would probably be able to teach him to get up, stop and go etc. But would lessons be a better idea? My guess is yes, but when I look at the price point on this it comes down to:

Lesson: 2 hrs $69 (although this apparently includes rental and lift ticket.)
They do have a 3-day lesson at the place I have a season pass for $109, 2-2 hour sessions and an "exploration day"

these are group lessons so my guess is he will be bunny-hilling with 10 other kids around his age. good idea? better than me teaching him? bad idea?

AND ALSO, hehe, now im asking a lot....better to buy him a snowboard if he gets into it? or continue renting until he gets to the point that hes not growing so fast. My guess is that if he enjoys it, he won't be able to go more than 3 or 4 times per season (i have him every other weekend).

THANKS!

camp/clinic vs practicing on your own

Its been MONTHS since I've been on this forum. Mostly summer/spring hobbies have kicked it, kinda forgot about this place. Been going through snow...

Its been MONTHS since I've been on this forum. Mostly summer/spring hobbies have kicked it, kinda forgot about this place. Been going through snow withdrawal the last couple of days, and remembered about this place.

So some background prior the the question. I board about 15-20times a season, most of the group I go with are not as experienced as me. I was practicing BS 360s, flat ground 1s, and having a hard time buttering her bacon.....er buttering/the other opposite of buttering.....nose slide I think it was?

So I was wondering in order to progress, which would be more beneficial? A camp like Cascade/Windell, one day clinic like Burtons snowboard academy, or just practice on my own. Windell/Cascade is probably out of the question (I'm working full time and its quite expensive), so I was considering the clinic (still kinda $$$, but not bad compared to camp) but haven't really heard much about them (hoping to hear some reviews or whatever), and the practicing on my own (hard since I don't have anyone to critique me or give me tips/advice).

I'd like to hear some advice and/or reviews/experiences...

*CLIFF NOTES* WHATS MORE BENEFICIAL? PRACTICING ON MY OWN, OR ATTENDING A CAMP/CLINIC?

Okay so I used to live in New York, and I moved to Texas about 1 year ago. I love to snowboard. I honestly believe if I stayed in New York I would have a small time sponsor now from the local board shop. I still want to snowboard but I live in small town Texas. I've considered building something like snoasis at woodward in my yard, but it is no real substitute for urban jibbing or riding a mountain. How can I snowboard for the next two years until I move somewhere in the north like Oregon or New York for college where I can really ride?

So here we are, the infamous stomp pad, used by those who know not the ways of a steezy snowboard setup. The idea of Stomp-pads make sense, but PLEASE dont invest your time and money on them. they're not necassary and they're plain not cool. Hows about you just press your back leg againts that binding and apply pressure to the front of your back foot/toes. It gives you just as much hold and can further increase your potential to hit features with one foot out!

This is integral if youre trying to look like you know whats up.
