Hey there! Just joined the forums, been boarding for about 10 yrs on a Burton I bought used 10 yrs ago. I think it's time for a new deck. I am 37yrs old, 6'0", and 190lbs. Price my last concern - I want to find the right board and haven't thought about it at all so I have a lot of learning to do... Here are my thoughts and questions:

How I ride:
I don't mess with terrain park. I am a blue course rider that seeks powder as often as I can find it. I ride at Copper Mountain mostly often with my 13yr old son and 10yr old daughter. I am not into jumping, tricks, moguls, etc. I like smooth sweeps and tight turns and POWDER

New boards that I have been looking at:
NeverSummer Raptor
Raptor/Raptor X | Never Summer Industries
NeverSummer Heritage
Heritage/Heritage X | Never Summer Industries
NeverSummer F1
Premier F1 | Never Summer Industries

I really dig the CO styling of the Heritage.

Questions:
Are these boards too technically advanced for me? (I don't even know what I mean by that)
What non-NeverSummer boards should I be looking at?
I don't see a weight / height guidelines chart on NS site to help me figure out the right size to get, how do I find that out?

thanks in advance...

Flow Era 2010 model - Iron Maiden graphics
2010 Flow Era Freestyle/Park Snowboard...

Flow Era 2010 model - Iron Maiden graphics
2010 Flow Era Freestyle/Park Snowboard

I'm very new to boarding although I've been skiing for almost 30 years. Bored.

I'm pretty confused by the equipment at this point to be honest. This weekend I spoke to 4 different salespeople that all told me 4 different things.

Any experts out there with equipment help me out picking a setup?
I've only been riding about 6 times. I picked it up at the very end of the season. I rode all day my first time without falling. Even off lift. The next few times I did much worse, but also better at other things, like actually turning instead of just sliding sideways down the hill with very gentle leaf turns. On my 6th time out, I was able to cautiously turn onto my nose, although sometimes I would get turned around and fall on my face or butt.
One time they rented me a long board with the left foot really far turned out and the feet VERY spread apart. was horrible for me. Think I'm suited for a smaller board for awhile or at least the stance.
I'm 6' and 185#, and here is the bad part, it looks like I'm going to be AT LEAST a size 12 boot and possibly a size 13. The 13's fit the best without toes too tight against toebox, just grazing. But when I rent boots they are smaller, sometimes 11.5 (my actual shoe size) and 12's.

I plan on just going down the mountain left right left right (toe heel toe heel), through trails, and to hit some small jumps. I'd love to say I'd advance to the park someday but lets face it, at 40 is that going to happen? Back already a bit screwed.

The board I'm looking at has a waist width of 26.4. The reviews said that people were catching edges on it somewhat but other than that was pretty good all around board, esp for the park.

I really like the graphics, I know you shouldn't buy for the graphics but hey...lets face it, if its the best board in the world for you and it has pink polkadots on it, you'd avoid it somewhat wouldn't you? :)

Any advice anyone could give for an affordable board, bindings, boot combo I'd appreciate it.

What board length and width should I be looking for.

I SHOULD MENTION, I board in the east. Powder is rare! Mostly packed powder, groomed granular and ICEY conditions. Just renting different boards I noticed the difference between some. I have NO idea what it was I was renting but I think the most stable for me was around the 155-157 range I want to say.

Also, the rental shop told me to climb the stairs to figure out if I was left or right footed, but lately I noticed I start with my right foot. I remembered today that the stairs were to the left of me so maybe that is why I started with my left foot lol. Is this that important to get right? Should I try the other way around sometime? I seem to do ok on both but my board starts to swim out from me when I'm not holding at least some edge going straight , say toward the lifts at teh bottom and I fall. Usually when I'm facing the 'proper' way, so I switch to going 'backwards' when I'm around the lifts. Weird?

Thanks for putting up with what is probably the 50th time this has been posted this week alone I'm sure. This is all pretty specific and I couldn't find anything that was like me for reference.

Thanks!

BTW - thanks SBF for the link to steep and cheap, it's the woot.com of snow? NICE! Instant addiction lol.

First of all, i'm 6' 145 with 11.5 sabbaths...

I have a sierrascope 156 right now and love the 25.5 waist on it, but I'm looking at picking up a never summer this year to check out the rc/vario in hopes of some better stability and smoother carves. Problem is, the revolver 153 seems too wide at 26.0 while the evo with my bare minimum 25.5 waist is a bit long at 161. Why does NS keep screwing me with their measurements? I just want a board to hit my sweet spot in the 152-155 range with as close to a 25.5 waist as possible. Is that so much to ask?

I suppose the 26.0 waist on the revolver will be OK. I just remember edge to edge on my 26.2 width 07 legacy 156 was a little sluggish and I'm not looking forward to reliving that.

ok, ive been reading and reading and reading info on all these boards here lately and asking questions and reviews!! these are my choices ive got it...

ok, ive been reading and reading and reading info on all these boards here lately and asking questions and reviews!! these are my choices ive got it narrowed to for my all mtn. and freestyle board, im wanting one that will handle the higher speeds without chatter, and handle jump landings without washing out, something that can handle ice sometimes too, im wanting to stay with a RC board, cause im just use to it now and love it! but heres my choices so give me ur opnion on them and what u think, & which u would go with.. i wanna try to get it ordered soon cause i know some may get gone fast especially the Never summer boards..... thanks

1. Ride Machete 155
2. Never Summer SL 155
3. K2 Raygun 156
4. Rome Agent Rocker 155

heres what info i know about them now..

Ride Machete- all the reviews ive gotten on it seems to be a great board for everything, seems all the ride guys prefered it over the DH2 for the riding im wanting it for, havent really heard any bad on it yet

Never Summer SL - well, never summer has aparently no bad comments! lol i had never heard of NS until this forum, and all reviews are great on the SL for the past 2yrs ive seen, it just seems to be a great all around board with the rocker & camber tech. its the most $$$ of these boards too, is only downfall but im not trying to be concered with money, cause i wanna use this board for quiet a few yrs.

K2 Raygun- brand new board for this year, seems to be a little brother to the turbo dream from what all ive found out so far, great price too, K2's tech has seem to come along ways, only board ive ever rode from them is the WWW for park and it was good..

Rome Agent rocker- brand new for 2011, havent found any reviews on it or comments from anyone thats rode it!! the tech on it seems to be pretty sweet, kinda close to the tech on the never summer boards it seems, but i could be wrong... and its also right there price wise with the NS boaard, and also, rome has gotten rid of the bronze edges so that should be a plus!

We all have boards out there that catch our eye.

Like boards you wish you could buy, if not to ride than to hang on the wall.

This thread isnt about what boards are better or are built for watever or watever board you want. Just post the boards you think have the nicest graphics going for 10/11.

My top 2 so far that have caught my eye. Try your top 3 If you can.

N.S. Raptor.
I cant get over how fucking sexy this thing looks, sooo clean sooo smooth. I'd love to fucking rip er a new one.

Lib techs T. Rice.
The colors in this fucker look insane I think, pretty dope. And a sick graphic going on.

Those are my top 2 so far that every once in a while I catch myself thinking how dope they look.

Arbors wastelands have caught my eye in the previous years, but from what I recall im not feeling this years.

Post up the Boards you think have the best graphics. Even if its boards you never see urself riding.

Well my friend is interested in the 2010 Never Summer Circuit-R Rocker. He is a talllll and skinny kid standing at 6"2 160lbs rocking some size 12 boots so that means XL bindings. I'm wondering if he would need a wide board or I'm wondering if this board would be right for him or not. Would he have some toe overhang that would effect his ride?

I don't know if this matters but...

Specs for the 158cm board:

Effective Edge
118cm (151), 121cm (155), 123cm (158)
Sidecut Radius
