Default 686/Sessions Snowboard Pants

Hi guys, I have some detailed questions that I didn't see answered before in my searches.

I am in the market for some nice pants and have found 2 brands that would probably suit me.

The first pant is the 686 Smarty Uzi - Its specs are 15,000/10,000 waterproof/breathability.

The next brand is the Sessions Valence or the Sessions Chemical. They are both 20,000/20,000 waterproof/breathability.

My questions stem around the fact that I have never snowboarded before and plan to go about 5-8 times this year. I will probably spend mucho time on my face and ass.

Here are my questions.
Which pant would you rather have and why?

686 Smarty Uzi - 15,000/10,000 - Has removeable inner pant $175
Sessions Valence or Chemical - 20,000/20,000 - $171 and $180.

Is there a large difference in 15,000 versus 20,000 waterproof?
Is there a large difference in 10,000 versus 20,000 breathability?

Sessions also has a pant called the Turrent which is Goretex. Is it worth it to spend an extra $60.00 on Goretex?

I haven't been on a mountain in over 5 years so these specifications are somewhat new to me, thanks for your help

i just got my sessions parachute pants (20k/20k i believe) and i LOVE them. i would recommend sessions gear to anyone. totally a solid product.

i've also heard REALLY good things about 686 as well. i owned an old 686 jacket and it was solid but that was years ago. i'm sure their tech has only gotten better since then.

long story short, either is a good choice.

the one thing i will point out is thats a lot of dough to drop for pants that your going to be wearing 5 times a season. check out steepandcheap.com or whiskeymilitia.com for deals. i got my sessions pants for $60.

I have the 686 Smarty Uzi pants and I love em. They are a bit heavy so some people do not like the added weight. I like the heavier weight fabric and the fleece inner pant is godly on cold days! They are a damn nice pant and they run baggy which I prefer. As for the rating...the only difference between 15k and 20K will be in the rain. for normla snow conditions, the 15K is more than adequate.

didnt say they were pretty. i wouldnt rock em. i cruised those sites for a month to find what i was looking for.

but i'm saying you dont need to spend $200 on a good pair of pants. like i said, your choices are solid but there are other choices out there. meh, maybe i'm just a cheap bastard.

if you're looking for the deals on S&C but don't feel like waiting, check out backcountryoutlet.com it's basically the same thing but you don't get quite as much off but you can get them without having to wait...
