Default How to clean jacket and pants....

I must have sat in something last season because I took my jacket and pants out today and there is a lot of grime on the backside. Could I just use some regular powdered detergent in the wash and clean my clothing using the gentle cycle or do I have to buy that expensive soap that they sell in ski shops. I would prefer the cheap stuff. I do have a bottle of grangers spray-on waterproofing for synthetic fabrics. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Powdered detergent is generally what most outerwear say to use. Use a cold, very gentle cycle.

You should be ashamed of yourself for just now getting your gear out.

Just Playin.... I just give it to the wife and she washes it like all the other dark colors.

It is best to use the Nikwax wash if you can. If you can`t it is best to use a powdered detegent like Tide in warm or cold water. Do not use high heat in dryer. You can get away with this a time or two, but it will ruin the waterproofing. Not all is lost if that happens, just use the Nikwax wash in waterproofing and you`re back in business. Do not use liquid detegent unless you are ready to re waterproof the stuff right after.

it say do not dry clean. I guess the dry cleaners use some funky chemicals. I am hearing different answers from everyone. Some say use powdered detergent in cold gentle cycle, some say use the special waterproofing soap, some say dry clean. I am going to find some mild powder detergent and spray on the granger waterproof. I just don't want to spend $25 on something I will use twice.

in my neck o' da woods, the 'drycleaners' are able to do more than just dry (ie chemical) cleaning.

i trust their expertise, rather than looking for random bottles under my kitchen sink.

but good luck
