Default Meh

Just read a few reviews online, averaged a 4 out of 5. Don't expect anything like the other final fantasy games. They say it nailed the graphics and shit, but main story line sucked fuck and fuckin sucked.

My favorites were FFVIII and FFX. I haven't played any since FFX, so I will probably skip this one too..

Well, after about 8 hours of gameplay I can say that my FF13 experience has been totally crappy so far. The game is 100% linear, there is no free exploring that I have encountered, there is zero challenge, zero party customization, the characters are annoying at best, the story is trivial and the decisions the characters make are like something out if a bad soap opera.

I was really hoping that Square would model this game after FF7, which was undoubtedly their most successful and widely praised title, but what they did instead feels less like a game and more like a partially-interactive storybook.

Short answer: No.

There are no meaningful choices to be made in character development. The characters can be improved through battle, but the path of progression is as linear as the storyline. I'm not very far into the game, though, so I really hope it gets better.

that sucks... was hoping this would be a good game as well. I guess I'll wait till the price drops then buy it.

Now off to get some more God of War gaming...

So I went on vacation for a week, came back with Resident Evil 5, and have almost completely lost interest in FF13. I am very disappointed in it. I have not played past chapter 7; can someone who had played beyond this point please chime in and let me know if the game ever gets more challenging than Pokemon? That'd be wonderful, thanks!
