PS3 owners...
Are there any snowboarding games out for the console yet? I heard of a game that Shaun White is helping to develop (could really care less for him), but really haven't seen much in the stores.

Right now, I pretty much have every sports game that EA makes for the system, but looking for something new.

I got a PS(better than)3(60). I check the internet every so often for a new boarding game. No news yet, but where'd you hear the Shaun White thingy? I don't like the guy much either, but at least he actually rides. Tho I loved all the SSX games.

I own a PS3, but I am not 100% with you that it's better than the 360. The 360 has unbelievable graphics, every game that comes out in both systems the 360 has a better reproduction of the graphics, better colors and better frame rate. The biggest problem with the 360 is the "red ring of death", I believe that now they are at 44% of all systems have the chance of being defective and it seems like Microsoft just rather fix the systems over and over again instead of addressing the source of the problem (over heating for the most part). I personally have the PS3 because I have always been a fan of a few games they have that Microsoft doesn't.

So many people are so sided as to what system is better, I believe they both have their goods and bad sides. Another thing, there are so much more options of games in the 360 than the ps3, but then again the system has been out for a year more than the ps3, plus their games are cheaper to make than the ps3 games. I believe the ps3 has a lot of room for improvement and the system is so much more capable than the games that are being made for it are. The 360 is an incredible system, I say there's nothing wrong with it, if they only managed to get the red ring issue fixed.

P.S. I bought my system over a year ago and payed $200 for it (got a great deal), I don't understand how people payed over $500 a couple of years ago. The good thing is that you get the blue ray player, but I still don't think it justifies it.

I am hoping Gran Turismo 5 prologe is going to finally challenge the system, it's coming out on Wednesday I think.

All my friends have 360s. Seriously, all my friends. It's crazy. I'm a loner (game- system wise), but I still say the PS3 is better, here's why

- Enormous graphical potential, only saw a shred of it even in titles like "Uncharted" (amazing game). Games like GT5, Resistance 2, and God of War 3 will hopefully exploit it's unrealized power.
- Free online play, and "Home" is coming, which should make it closer to the X360's more streamlined online community without adding to the price.
- Come on, it DOES have a Blu - Ray player.
- Even if the current crop of games is a bit sub-par, there are some GREAT 1st party exclusives coming out that will challenge the 360's strong selection. To name a few: Infamous, Final Fantasy 13, GT5, Resistance 2, Haze, Socom, God of War 3, Dead Space, GRiD, and KillZone 2.
-Part of the reason that the 360 has more games is because it's cheaper to develop on. A high budget game is going to cost the same on both systems, but there's no such thing as a "low budget game" on the PS3, where the 360 is overrun with shit like "Fusion Frenzy 2", etc etc
- A bigger hard drive = a bigger heart.
- Controllers are rechargeable, 360 takes batteries.
- Do 44% of our systems fuck up for no apparent reason or freeze alot? Noo-oo-ooooo-ooooo.

These are my reasons for standing up for the PS3 in the face of adversity.

I am not bashing the PS3 I love it, all I am saying is that the 360 is not as bad as some people say it is. And yes you are right the PS3 only has a 3% defective ratio, which is not even close to 44%.

Are you getting GT5?

PaoloSmythe 04-14-2008 05:13 AM

for me in the UK, i am at least afforded a more impartial representation of both systems; (microsoft being a US company will often have a greater marketing presence / bias in america than a japanese competitor afterall.)

for me, the biggest issue is one of price. over here both cost about twice the US price.... and so if i am to fork out top dollar for such 'toys' then reliability is also gonna be of tremendous importance.

i see many 360 games and they really do look tip top. but any improvement in them over PS3 games i think are marginal.

other benefits (other than reliability and competative price) include the blueray player (i suppose if you can;t just download films from the interweb) but mainly the FREE downloadables for future games and additions to current games, which 360 owners need to pay for.

kinda odd that GT5 has yet to come out in your neck of the woods tho... it has been out for over a month over here. it is pretty sweet; got london streets in it too.

I'm purchasing a HDTV and PS3 just for FFXIII. I'm kind of an FF addict :(
Always a shame games take forever to come out in Europe, was a pain. The wait time was even worse when i lived in saudi arabia though. you could only get a game IF it slipped through the censors, or you want to bataah (Riyadh's knock off market), but that still took months or years :/

PaoloSmythe 04-14-2008 06:36 AM

don't squaresoft europe produce FF anymore?
(i only knew this coz my missus used to quality control the translations of them)

if they are euro based, surely they would come out here first no?

Believe it or not, the US has had some problems with the launching of many games. They get delayed a lot, GT5 was supposed to come out like 4 months ago.

Any of you tried Vegas 2, is it worth the money? I was going to buy it but hesitated to since I thought that Vegas 1 lacked of graphics.

Paolo can I ask you question, where do you usually ride?

PaoloSmythe 04-14-2008 08:32 AM

i can't say i 'usually' ride anywhere

i go where (i think) the snow is.....

i used to ride a lot in italy. but usually i will go to france every year.... been to canada three times... austria once.... switzerland once..... looking at chile and nepal next season.... but others persist with ideas within europe.

its not easy....
