COD5: World at War

Haven't seen a thread for this game, anyone on it?

If you played the epic COD4, it's a bit different. You can't pick off snipers with a RPD (or now the DP28, i think that's the Russian LMG) maps really allow for some serious camping, highly defensive positioning, etc.

I'm usually playing Hardcore stuff, occasionally some Domination.

I played COD4 for awhile, but I found that most of the maps were pretty poorly laid out for multiplayer action. The single player was fun, but short and I hear that the single player for 5 is even shorter. I like the idea of them adding in the co-op for up to 4 players to go through the single player scenarios, but don't know how much you'd get out of it since its so short.

You mentioning lots more camping doesn't exactly make me lean towards picking it up. But I love FPS and did get some fun out of 4 so I'm on the fence with this one. The whole ww2 scenario is intriguing, plus the addition of bayonets and flamethrowers would definitely be fun.

I have both 4 and 5. 5 is pretty much what I play right now for games. I'm always on multiplayer for Xbox360, username jonnydanger81. I usually play HQ, Capture the flag or Sabotage. I never finished the single player for 4 and I only played 5 once when the internet went down and I still wanted to shoot stuff.

Oh yeah, IMO I don't think the maps are too camper friendly really, or at least I feel that in HQ, which is my favorite game type, if you're going after the objective then campers can't really get you because it's always changing.

the storyline is too short. I was surprised when I realised it was over... still really fun though. the latter missions are pretty intense and it becomes impossible not to get killed; and Japanese banzai attacks are awesome.. they come from all around you, so you have very little time to react at some points.

online maps look better (no shipment-style layout so far) and I like the addition of tanks. plus if you get a 7 kill streak, you can unleash a pack of wild dogs, heh.

Thank god for the shipment-less maps. Although "Dome" kind of stinks on some game styles. I don't know how I feel about the tanks yet. I think one bazooka should take them down, or at least slow them up.

I ended up buying it and so far I'm impressed. The single player is very fun, although I haven't played with any buddies in Co-op mode, I can see it being intense, especially if you turned up the difficulty. I hear they threw in a Zombie level as well once you finish the co-op, that's gotta be pretty funny.

Haven't played much online as I'm getting used to things, but definitey the couple of maps I played were wide open and didn't seem to suffer from the 'Shipment - Spawn and Die' syndrome.

Now I just have to convince my friends to pick it up so we can do some co-op.

havent played this yet but i look forward to doing so soon...

as for all you out there disappointed with the longevity of the campaign or rather lack thereof,
you are mistaking this game for a full-title release. you are mistakingly calling it COD5, when actually it is titled COD: World at War. this game is really just supposed to be a kind of extension to COD3 i believe because they didnt cover all the sides of WWII.

think of it in terms of how RockStar released the GTA games...

there was GTA3
then there was GTA: Vice City
then there was GTA: San Andreas
and now finally GTA4....

The term you're looking for is "Expansion Pack", but that still doesn't matter to me when I'm paying the same price as a full release. I expect the same amount of game value if I'm going to pay the same price, IMO.

^^ you definitely have a point. in the same respect, the GTA games in between 3 & 4 did not skip or disappoint on content so there is a point against myself as well.

although, i have a feeling this game was released more for the multiplayer content.. the game developers know that multiplayer is the bread&butter of this franchise so they squeezed more money out of the FPS-lovars cuz they knew that group would buy this game for a new multiplayer experience over tired, old COD4
