Thumbs up What is the most important criteria when buying a board?

Hey to all of you,

i have a question to you. So when you buy a new board, what are the most important criteria you look at:

Price? Quality? Design? or anything else you can think of?

Well the most important criteria is you.. your height, weight, boot size that is really what counts in selecting equipment..now the brand is up for grabs. Equipment preferences are like assholes, everyone has one. I dont know if you can go wrong in whatever brand you decided on. I would say do not go for packages, go ala carte ie: board, bindings, boots, clothing. This method forces u into quality equipment and at that point the differences in the lines you will learn via the salesman etc...There are threads in the equipment section with all the particulars we like.

it is tuff being a consumer these days, what with all the choices out there.

your weight is important in determining the appropriate length of your board, height is less of a factor really. you may need to indulge in a well known brand in case of issues of reliability and or warranty / customer service, but this is not such a big deal.

if you have huge feet, ie bigger than size 13 etc, then board width is an issue....(possibly)

but whilst i am inclined to say that no one consideration takes priority, but it is a combination of all factors, i guess the most important consideration for an absolute beginner, is one of flex!

(you didn't see that one coming did ya!?)

Honestly, I think it is a blend of all these issues. Life is about compromise, so you will give and take on all of these to come up with a balance that works for you. First off, you determine what your needs and goals are then pick the tool (design) now you need to weigh quality and price and come out with a balance. The best quality out there doesnt mean jack if it`s price is unattainable. By the same toke, a bargian is worthless if the thing falls apart prematurely.

So, for me I decide on the design that meets my needs first, then I strike the quality/price balance.

I'm with Snowolf...it's a combination of factors for me. Performance usually is the driving force with bang for the buck rounding it out. I could really care less about the graphics or style of the board unless it's absolutely horrid but even then if I thought the equipment was tuned specifically for what I am looking to do and was the best performance/value combination out there I'd still probably go with it.
