Default board for my wife... Lamar?

I'm looking for a board for my wife... she has only gone a few times, but we want to get something that will last a while.

Do you know anything about Lamar?

any other great cheap boards?

Lamar= junk. How much are you looking to spend? Weight? Boot size? What does she like to ride?

spend less than 300 135lbs size 9 boots, likes to ride the bunny slopes... I'm hoping to get her to the top of the mountain this year, but I don't see here ever doing anything but cruzing.

Thanks for any input

Got my girlfriend a 152 Nitro Fate which is a damn fine board and she has almost the same measurements, 5'8" 140lbs size 10 in womens.

You can also look at the Ride Vista/Solace or some Rome chick boards also... you should be able to find most of last years models for dirt cheap

Well for your budget and what she will do, A Lamar actually might be an option. I normally would`nt recommend them for someone who is going to prgress and outperform the board fairly soon. By comparison to major brands they are "junk" but it sounds like she will never notice that the board does not perform to the degree of higher end stuff.

I started riding on a Lamar Diablo and I have to say that, for a $99 board, it served me well and it was actually not that terrible and has held up for 4 years now (I loan this to my nephews to ride and they all hit jumps on with it and rails and hit the blacks)

A Lamar bronze series on up is their "better" line of boards and they ride better than their base models. So, if all you have is $300 for everything, buying a Lamar beats sitting at home or dealing with rentals when the user is`nt demanding of performance.

lamar

Okay guys, don`t flame me for this, you all know I recomend good stuff, but sometimes a person`s budget dictates thinking outside the box....

We live on Maui, and only make it to the snow once a year. This will be here second time on a snowboard, and honestly just don't know how fast she will pick it up. She wants an arbor board because they look cool. I just don't want to spend the money if we don't use it that much.

When we only go once a year, the equipment will be outdated before it gets much use.
Thanks for the input.

If you only go once a year, rentals aren't a terrible idea either. If you're set on buying though, I'd say Lamar is fine for someone who isn't looking to carve up the mountain. Besides, only going once a year means she won't wear it out anytime soon, even for a Lamar.

The boots are where I'd spend a little more. If you want someone to hate snowboarding forever, send them out in some uncomfortable boots...

Nothing is worse than having soggy, sore and aching feet from some worn out rental junkers.

I think LTD has some boards that are nicer than Lamar, but I've never used one myself. You might look for some reviews. I don't personally know much about them.
