I broke my wrist bad quite some time ago. So I wore a wrist guard after I got the cast off. The thing with a wrist guard is if you fall hard on that arm the energy will transfer to your elbow and shoulder. Which is why my elbow cracked and my shoulder came out of socket (Mctwist on melted halfpipe 3rd day after getting cast off from wrist break). My shoulder still comes out to this day for very minor things and I cannot straighten my elbow flat. Needless to say I take body hits from now on.

If you have a previous injury like me that never quite healed right you can never be too careful. You don't need to be in a suit of armor out there or anything. A wrist brace may not do anything as dramatic as keeping your ulna and radius from coming out of your palm, but if it saves you from a week of pain because of a bad crash, I'd say it's worth it.

I recommend wristguards for anyone that is learning to ride. I wore them when I first starting riding. I didn't use them the first couple of times I went and my wrist were hurting more than the rest of my body. And my whole body was hurting pretty bad.

i just got the burton impact gloves and they are perfect for me. They are basically a regular glove with a sturdy wrist guard built in. They have an under the cuff fit so if you dont want that i dont recommend them, but they keep my fingers warm and dry and my wrists in one piece. They do look a bid robotic but if you dont mind that, then go for it.

i didnt wear wrist guards when i first started, and nowadays both my wrists are permanently screwed up. they crack in and out and i have trouble doing a lot of things (using a mouse, typing, operating a cellphone with one hand, working out, pushups, etc)

nowadays, i can ride better, so i know not to fall forward and catch my fall with my hands, but its already too late, and the damage has been done. i wish id had wrist guards when i was younger

i wore the wrist guards for my first couple times. I can't really say if they helped or not. my wife banged her thumb up pretty good, and nothing besides a full hand cast would have prevented that. It's good to hear the points above about as riding progresses they become even more necessary. I guess, we'll keep ours for a snowy day, just in case.

I use a pair of my friend's old rollerblading wristguards, and they fit under my gloves (sometimes, depending on gloves, a bit of a tight fit) (I was over, not under gloves).
If you buy snowboarding wristguards, they have a thinner profile, so you should be able to squeeze them into any gloves.

I find they help and give you a nice boost of confidence really. Same goes for asspad and kneepads.

they have a burton pair of wristgaurds/gloves that usually go for $80 for $20 on whiskey right now. 2 mediums left, and 20 smalls left.
