Default Scratch on board base

I have a LTD 163 Transition, and when riding last time out, I ran over a rock, which created a nice scratch on the base of the board. It is about 1/4 inch deep and about 2 inches long. It is only about 1/8 inch wide. Is there some type of epoxy I could try to fill it with? I am not sure if wax would fill it up and stay for a while.

depends. if its not a core shot (down to the wood) you dont really need to fill it. use p-tex to fill it. your local shop will have ptex candles. just get them to fill it, as getting the ptex to drip cleanly is a bitch. the flame has to burn blue, or the ptex drips a cloudy black color, which is carbon inside.

if it is so deep it might have gotten to your core (ie thru the paint work) if your board has a wood core (some still do but not as many as in the old days) then it needs to be thoroughly dried out before repairing, otherwise the wood will rot and your board will die.

then, you need to p-tex it, (wax is just a polisher not a filler) either yourself or at your local board store (for a price)

if you wanna DIY, then pester snowolf for a link to his excellent you tube tutorials on such maintenance techniques.

as said above, clear / white p-tex is difficult to melt clean (ie without soot) but if you have black p-tex, or a black board base, or a scratch thru the base's paint, a dirty smudge won't matter too much now will it? besides chicks dig scars.....
