Whats softer? Rome, Option, Lib tech
I've narrowed my board choice to 4 boards. I need a soft board for my collection as I have too many all mountain go fast boards.
Lib Tech Skate bananna
Option Motive
Rome Artifact
Rome Graft
I'm looking for a soft board but one that could handle hauling ass. Won't be hitting to many rails but looking for a buttery-ish board that is twin tip with centered stance, and preferably a sintered base, and not necessarily a board you can only ride in the park. I talked to a guy at Dogfunk today and he said that the Artifact isn't as soft as the Graft? Is this so? I've read horror stories of trying to go fast on too soft of a board, but damn the choice is hard here. I've tried and tried but I haven't found an opportunity to demo any of these boards.
The sizes I'm looking at are
Graft 154
Artifact 153
Skate Banana 156
Option Motive 154
I am 5'10" or so and I weight 170 right now which remains between 170 and 180 through the winter. I have been reccomended a 156 through a lot of resources but I just want a small board for this purchase, I like that skateboard feel, so easy to manuever etc.

I'm also looking for an apple that tastes like an orange. In short, they don't exist. A park board is a park board is a park board. if you wanna go fast, break out those freeride decks.
Also, from what I know, the Artifact is one of the softest boards made. Dunno much about the others, I ain't ridden them.

Well my girlfriend offered to pay for one lol so she's going to be buying the Option as I have one already and really like it. I think I'm also leaning towards the Graft (to buy for myself) because everybody and their freaking mother has the Artifact and the salesman at Dogfunk told me that there was only a slight difference between those two Rome boards and unless I rode both a LOT I would never notice the difference. Just part of progression I guess. I can't wait to have a real twin tip and get the switch/butter thing going Stoked! I've gotten a lot better at riding this year.
I know I might be a board whore but I have a lot of friends who like to come out and don't have their own shyte either.

5 option boards in the family and they tend to be generally stiffer than most and make you work. Don't know about the Motive. Why not just do the Bananna, rocker flex for butters and mag for blasting down runs and handles the pow.

you mentioned that you were looking at the artifact. my friend owns one and i can name some pros and cons for you because i have noticed things about this board. first of all it will definitely satisfy your need for buttering and presses, etc. but the downfall is..because its so pliable as someone said before it will probably start acting funky on you when you wanna bomb some hills or just go for straight up speed. another con to the rome artifact is it has bronze edges which aren't as strong as the edges other boards have. bronze is a little bit softer metal. you can read up on the artifact at rome sds's website and even it will tell you that this is straight up jib stick for street/park riding and from what it sounds like, you're not just going to be doing that...

based on your needs, i'd say the skate banana. buttery cause of the rocker, but with magne and the new core profile(tailored to the rocker) you can still rail fast turns. and lib is hella good. The artifact is one of the softest boards on the market so i wouldn't get that if you plan on pointing it straight.

NO SHAME IN THAT!! Have fun with your new setup man. I think the graft is a nice choice.
