Default Atomic Snowboards?

Any actual owners of Atomic Snowboards on these forums?

Atomic Snowboarding Homepage

I see some pretty dope steez in some of their vids i.e. atomic snowboards deliver movie

and while nothing revolutionary or groundbreaking, their boards are made in Austria appear to be up to par.

...however, the only boards I can find online are deep discounted eBay boards which raises my skepticism.

They claim to be one of the largest snowboard companies in the world (not necessarily a good thing), so why have I heard so little about them? They've also got a dealer heli boarding vid here: YouTube - atomic snowboarding dealer heli boarding event that shows this cool inflatable pack thing and they seem to have it down w/ dealer communications, so are they just trying to work into the US market or what?

I am a huge fan of Atomic! My all mountain board is the Cold Smoke and this year I bought the Radon for my big mountain/pow/backcountry stick. These boards have been the best ride I have had so far. The edges are legendary and the response and stability of these boards are phenomenal. The Hatchet is a mainstay of park riding. As for buying online, you can use their dealer locator or contact them to get in touch with a local rep. I got mine directly from the rep on a pro form through AASI. Any specifics you want about these great boards, I will be happy to answer if I can...

you need to expand your searching a little bit, i think. I was recently looking for atomic boards and you can easily find the 07/08 models at quite a few online retailers.

The only boards from atomic that i had to work to find were a couple of last years models. not too many in stock any more.

i'd find the model of board(s) you are looking for and just do a straight google search from there, between the google shopping listings and the weblinks, you should find plenty of hits.

Good Luck.

I have a 156 atomic pivot and love it. Really fun board to mess around on.

Hahah...I knew snowolf would jump on this one right away

Snowolf -
In regards to the Cold Smoke, how do you like it's stability at speed vs response to turning? Do you feel if it's a lazy turner or more precise (i.e. fun on tree runs)? How is the level of stiffness? I love my '08 Anthem however have heard good things on the Cold Smoke. One of our sponsored riders just got a Cold Smoke and I'll be taking it out for a spin in a few weeks when we visit him and a few others out in Tahoe.

The thing is very stable at speed and it turns very well. I would rate it`s quick turning as middle of the road. It is`nt so quick as to be dicey so a new rider can get this board and start learning on it day one, yet the advanced rider will still be satisfied with it. The sidecut is a progressive type than enters a turn gradually and exits very rapidly and powerfully. The board has mad camber so in a carve, you can really take advantage of rebound. The edges are very sharp and of a harder steel than many boards so they really stay sharp. The only possible downside to boards like the Cold Smoke and it`s big brother, the Radon is with the progressive sidecut and large stance setback, these do definitely feel weird when riding switch. It is easy to adapt to, but at first it will feel really strange.

Thanks. It sounds similar to the Anthem. I look forward to testing the board out.

Enjoy the ride!

I just bought the exeter from wheel and heel for 175 bucks. They have a ton of 06 & 07 boards with steep discounts. It is an exceptional board for the money. I was lookin at the Ride Fleetwood but think I made an excellent choice.
