and after a while of riding a harry base the oils get into it from the slopes and that makes it even harder to "impregnate" the base with a hot wax. Sometimes this requires a base grind to fix.
We get requests to tune a lot of those "less than $200 boards" that the kids buy from the Bike shop. They must be the worst base material ever because once I could get wax to take at all. I called around to find out what the tech was and the Bike shop said that they would also have to grind them in order to get wax to stick, even new ones!!!
