picked up the salomon F22's at the end of last season. Due to the smallish cut of the sole, I was unable to get my heals to stay down tight no matter how much I cranked down on my bindings (four year old burton missions). so I am looking for binding recommendations. Do you think that just rocking toe cap bindings will remedy the situation or should I be looking for bindings with a smaller base plate?

A toe cap isn't going to fix anything with that. The binding is too big for the boot, now if you haven't moved the straps down in the holes that could be an option. Personally I'd just get new ones.

Bindings can be adjusted in size. Check to see if the straps can be moved in to help the problem. If that still doesn't work, the bindings are too big and you will have to get smaller one. Take your boots to the store and try some bindings out.
