Question Telluride Question

Planning to strike something off the bucket list. Telluride, spring of '15

Better to stay in the town of Telluride or the Mountain Village?

Based on what I can see on a trail map, it looks like the Gondola can get you to both areas fairly easily.

Sufficient variety of restaurants in the Village would be my main concern.

There may not be a compelling reason to choose one area over the other, and that is ok by me. We'll simply stay where we can score the best rate within walking distance to either the lifts or Gondola in either location.

In that case just find the best rate. I'd stay in telluride personally, I like the feel of the old town. It's also less expensive usually. Beautiful town. Mill post pictures in march of terrain and town. We have a competition stop there

Agreed on in Telluride, we stayed at the Mountainside Inn and it was only 100 a night I think. Short walk to the gondola from there. I believe Cimmaron Lodge is cheap too.

Another vote for the town from me if you're still undecided. The village is alright but being able to walk to the variety of restaurants/bars in town and the gondola or a lift in the morning worked best for us. The town itself is pretty awesome. There's also a lift ticket window at the base of the gondola on the town side.

If you're not on that tight of a budget, check out Hotel Telluride. Stayed there a couple years back. It's a little bit of a walk to the gondola or a lift but they do have a complimentary suv shuttle that will take u anywhere in town an pick u up. It's definitely one of the nicer places I've ever stayed. It definite won't be the cheapest option tho. Only reason I ended up there was somebody else already booked the trip an I tagged along last minute.
