Spirit AL? Detroit-Denver, Opinions?
This was sort of a hail Mary, for shits and giggles, "if I lived in a perfect world," airfare search I did this morning!! After rescheduling my vacation to the end of Feb, the weather & snowfall outlook is not looking all that great for my usual N. MI. destination, So,..
I found a non-stop, round trip flight from Detroit to Denver for under $200 on Spirit! While I haven't done any of the other "Vacation math" yet to see if a Colorado SB trip is even remotely do-able for me,.. I seem to recall hearing some real horror stories about flying Spirit from other boarders on SBF. Things like ridiculous oversized/extra baggage fees, lost/damaged boards/gear, etc.
I was wondering if I could maybe get a few quick opinions about this airline from others here that have flown with them!
It really would be a dream come true if I could manage a CO boarding trip, but even with a super cheap flight,... after car rentals, lodging, Hugely expensive lift tickets, etc? I'm not sure there's any chance of pulling this off, but I'd still like to hear any first hand experience members have had flying with Spirit!
