Aspen or bust???
Here is the deal, I have a friend that is heading out there for the week of March 7th. He has a place on the mountain (ski out the front door onto mnt, ski in the back door when done) All I have to do is pay for airfare and lift tickets, I can crash on couch and what not. So here is the question Should I go ? I would only be able to stay for 3 maybe 4 days (work schedule)I have never been out West before so I don't know what to expect. Its would probably work out to 500$ air and 400 lift tickets. Is that worth it? Im am by no means a pro I would probably consider myself mild intermediate, would I be in over my head? I ride a Atomic 163 mugshot (Butron step in bindings) would that be OK or get something new ? Get it tuned before I go? How about Helmets and Goggles? Are they a must out West? Sorry for alot of newbie question. Thanks in advance

Sounds like you are rockin' some pretty old gear. Burton step in binders where the worst of all the step in's without a doubt. That said, I'm sure they still work. If you want to use your gear go for. Tune it up if you think your boards beat. My guess is that what I ride on might be more beat up than your board and I'm not getting a tune for it any time soon.

As far as Aspen goes. It's one of the best in West. By far the most happening ski town there is. Great access to world class mountains. Aspen Highlands is one of the most underrated steep mountains in the West and Highlands bowl is just amazing. Especially if you nail it on a powder day. Snomass is huge and has a little bit of everything. Aspen Mountain, is an Urban gem. You can take the Gondola right out of downtown. Buttermilk, well it kind of sucks, but if you like park, it's the place to go.

Apres wise, take you pick. Tons of great bars and restaurants in town. Expect stuff to be upscale. Even the bums begging for money are of a higher class. If you go you'll know what I mean.

Dude! Are you kidding me? If you have a chance to go to Aspen... do it!!! No doubt about it!
You'll have an amazing time!

Go, you won't regret it. Your mind will be stuck in Aspen for the next few months

He should be taking a lesson from Aspen bums. They are way classier. Again, you have to see it to believe it, but the people begging for money on the street are like your upper class citizen's in most towns...

Thanks for all the good advice, Im booked for 3/6 to 3/10 going to try at ride all 4 days ( going to at least buy the passes to motivate me) I still don't have a def yes from work that I have off but I'm hoping for the best. Only concern now is 5hr lay over in Denver then I get to aspen 5 on Friday night, my friend doesn't leave Philly till 6 that night. What to do in Aspen (with luggage ) for 5 hrs till friend shows up he had key for condo not sure if I can get this before hand. Also kinda need a plan B if snow comes in and his flight gets canceled Im stuck in Aspen on a Friday night and I'm sure things cheap (maybe Ill be sleeping with those bums) Any suggestion? Dont think Aspen airport is big enough to hang out in for 5 hrs.... any place to stash luggage ? Ill probably end up at a bar smile.gif
