I'm going to be staying in Eagle in early April (before Vail closes) visiting family. We're planning on snowboarding for at least a couple of days, and were/are planning on Vail, as I'd heard Spring snow there is some of the best. However, I'm hearing that it hasn't been a great snow year at Vail, and conditions maybe be less than ideal. Can anyone confirm or deny this? We're prepared to drive a couple hours to a different resort if necessary, but are just trying to make plans in advance. Thanks.

It's been an average snow year. There will be plenty of snow at Vail when you are there. A couple of hours of driving will not net you any significant difference. There is also a lot of March left.

Vail is a little lower in elevation than A Basin or Breckenridge, so Vail will probably be a little slushier and less covered at the bottom. It should be fine though. All of our beginner snowboarding videos were filmed at Breckenridge the last week they were open last year, and you can see there was plenty of snow.
