Hi everyone,
My husband is turning 30 the first weekend in November and I wanted to plan a weekend trip for us. We live in L.A. and usually board Mammoth but the snow is not good in November. We have been to Whistler before and loved it but are probably only doing a 3-4 night trip, so it might be too far. Any suggestions for someplace easy to get to from LA with good November snow? Also, I love high speed chair lifts and am not a fan of gondolas. If a place has nightlife and nice restaurants that is a definite plus. We like to mix up park and trail riding. It is the big 3-0 so I am willing to splurge. thanks! |

Pretty much no where is going to have good coverage by then unless some place gets a really good October. Wolf Creek Colorado got almost 100" in an October 5 or 6 years ago, or something like that. In Cali, you are going to probably have better mountain biking. The only fairly good bet I can think of is Mt Hood in Oregon.
Most places that are open by then are going to have one maybe two runs open all man made. Otherwise known as the white ribbon of death. The WROD gets crowded, is icy, and is a great place to end your season (think collisions, torn acl's etc) before it's even started. In reality though, you'd be better off waiting until January for good conditions. |

I think committing to any trip anywhere right now for such an early time in the season is a crap shoot with the odds not in your favor. As kill said if you want 100% certainty than go for a January date.
