Default Anybody hit Keystone yet?

It opened last week and I was wondering if I should even bother heading up there this early in the season? Snow.com says that there are 3 lifts open and only 5 runs.

I was planing on going, on Saturday, but my wife called in sick to work. So instead I stayed home and cleand leaves. The snow was ok at A-basin the last couple of weeks. So to me its worth the trip. Im going to try and sneak out of work sometime this week and get up there before the weekend if possible.

It's only like a 2 hour drive for me and I've been to Abay a few times already, I'm more just wondering if Keystone is as much of a zoo as Abay has been?

Generally you don't have to wait as long, but it is still a long wait. The runs also get super crowded. There were literally people sitting blind under rollers, in end of the day mogul lines and other such strange places to stop.

The park is super legit for this time of the year.

I am able to go the last 2-3 hours of the day when everyone is leaving, so there are no waits and the runs are fairly open. Yesterday, on my last 2-3 runs, I saw maybe 20 people on the trail the entire time. Which is empty for this time of year.

I'm sure Saturday will be a zoo, but what the hell, I've already got a pass so I guess I'll give it a shot and report back.

It tends to be worse the following 2-3 weeks after opening, but if you are jonesing for some turns, it works. Basin will be less crowded and now they are top to bottom.

Key wasn't that bad considering what I've been dealing with for the past 5 weekends at A basin....

The lines at Key were fairly large but moved wayyy quicker the A Basin of course, but the hill was fairly crowded. If you like to make big falling leafy style carves then you wouldn't have liked it.

I was super refreshed to have new terrain to ride.... I'm usually one of the faster people around so I basically just kept away from people in front of me and I had no issues with traffic.

And having a top to bottom run was great at Key.... It all just depends on how bad you want to ride I guess.

I had a blast at Key on Sunday and I'm going back up Wednesday because I'm off on a holiday

Being that some of you guys are local, how do you think the resorts over there (A-Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge) are gonna be lookin from Dec. 2-7?

I'm gonna be there then...hopefully mother nature dumps some snow on you guys in the next 2 weeks.

We are def. going to need some snow to have any substantial amount open by then. There will be runs open enough to have fun on, but today and yesterday is about the first snow we have had in 2-3 weeks.

I have rode AB a few times and Ketstone twice. I haven't gone back to AB since Keystone opened though so i can't say for sure how it is there now. Keystone was as Milo mentioned.... Today I hit up Loveland and I do have to say it was the best one so far for early season. Good snow, good coverage, no lines, no bs etc, lots of terrain open for so early etc... I was impressed for sure! Was definitely worth the 25 bux!
