Making my first trip to Mammoth next week. I've been studying the trail maps but some tips and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. My girlfriend and I are both low-intermediate riders but I definitely want to take some runs from the top. She still doesn't like the crazy steeps so we'll be avoiding the double blacks.
Thinking Cornice Bowl is a must. What's the best way up there? Panorama Gondola goes all the way up but it looks like you might have to do a little traversing to get to Cornice. Maybe Broadway Express, then hike to Chair 23? Any other runs that are can't miss? Last edited by clankfu; 03-11-2010 at 04:58 AM. |

if you guys are both low-intermediate riders, please avoid cornice. there are enough people up there that don't belong. it's not that easy and it's crowded. try chair 3, 5, 12, 13, 15, 22, 25. there are difficult runs off those lifts but there are blues that you can cut to if it's too much. please don't feel like you HAVE to ride down from the top. you can have a lot of fun without going up to the top. the backside is fun too and not as bad.
