What's the Word on Loveland?

A few weeks ago yusoweird from this forum hooked me up with a free lift ticket for Loveland. With all the new snow coming in, I think tomorrow is going to be the perfect day to use it. Thing is, it's going to be my first time ever at Loveland and I really want to make the most of it because I need to need to pick up a friend from the airport at 3:30. So, I need to be out of there really early ( no later than 1). WIth all the new pow, I don't really want to waste too much time looking for for cool terrain to ride. I did a little research on the interwebs and it looks like anything off lifts 4, 8, and 9 should be pretty good. It seems like the general consensus is to stay off lift 2 due to high volume of newbs. So, for anyone that is familiar with Loveland: What are some of your favorite areas to ride at loveland? Which runs/bowls should I really make a point of hitting up tomorrow? And, if anyone wants to let me in on where the best stashes of powder are, send me a PM. I wont tell. ;)

Hike the ridge off of 9 drop wherever it looks good.

Chair 8 is fun. Lot's of little hits and such there. Good trees too.

The stuff lookers left of chair 1 can be great too. It's often very rocky terrain, lot's of shark teeth to core shot your board. With this season, it should be riding pretty fat though.

Those are the basic spots I'd look. It's actually a pretty easy mountain to read. Go rip that shit.

Just got back from killin' it at Loveland. The powder was ridiculously deep in some places. I spent most of the first part of my day riding the bowls off lift 9 and made lots of fresh tracks coming down the bowls. From there I rode chair 8; lots of cool natural terrain but not really steep enough for all the fresh powder so it was kind of slow but definitely not bad either. I finished the day by checking out the runs off chair 1. It was good stuff all around, probably the best pow day this year. The only sketchy moment was on my first run of the day when I got stuck on a really flat part in crotch deep snow off lift #2. Overall I think this may be my new favorite place to ride in Summit county or at least on a pow day.

Yeah, you have to know the mountain pretty well to make it on a board going looker's left off of 2 on a deep day. It took me a couple of cuss filled slogs through near waist deep pow to get that. The run into that little dip is nice but that dip gdts way wind loaded and it's really tough to get through it on a board. Gotta avoid that dip.

Once you get to know that mountain, you learn to just avoid 2 altogether. There's some decent terrain off of that chair, but there's better terrain with less people elsewhere. 2 is basically the gaper lift at Love.

8 is great! There's some mild terrain that you have to avoid on deep days, but the trees and the steeps are still in play. Definitely gotta know the terrain over there though to avoid some unpleasant hiking.
