Question about Vermont late April...

So a bunch of my friends and I have an incredibly late spring break (starting the 15th of April). We were thinking that it might be worth it to take a trip out to Killington, Mt. Snow, or Okemo for a couple of days during that week, assuming they are open.

I've been looking around online and traditionally it looks like these mountains close before that date, or on it. I was wondering if anyone from the area would either know their projected closing dates this season, or of any other mountains in the Vermont area that traditionally stayed open until later in April - late enough that we could get three days of riding in during that week, so at least until the 21st.

Being that you're talking about pre-Easter week, Killy should be good go. They'll be swinging reduced operations (fewer base lodges will be open), but it should still be good. This next storm of 1-1.5 feet should also help your cause. I'm not one to endorse places like Mt. Snow or Okemo, but its up to you. One of the big complaints about Killington is the crowds.....which will be very limited during the week of your spring break trip!

Have Fun! Also consider Sugarloaf, ME (Its a haul, but you're on Spring Break, so what....it can be worth it.) or Jay Peak, VT.

Sugarloaf also has a Reggae Fest durnig the first weekend of your SB.

I was just up there last weekend, but at Stratton and conditions were really good with no signs of them closing anytime soon. I did talk to a few patrols and they said there was a small possibility that they might start closing a base/lodge or two if it gets warmer. But with the storm hitting them, I highly doubt it now. All mountains are expecting close to a foot of snow so it'll definitely help stretch out the season until late April. I checked into next week's forecast and the weather doesn't seem to be getting that much warmer at all so I think you'll be safe to go and get some riding in.

Mother nature is loving us right now so might as well take advantage and ride as much as possible.

According to a recent email I got from them, Killy gondola should be running straight thru April. I'll be up there this Sunday/Monday. I'll pop back into this thread on Tuesday and give you a firsthand report of conditions as well as what a few of my friends who work the mountain think will be open when you guys hit it in a few weeks.
