Hey guys.. Been lurking here for a while now, checking our reviews and stuff. To start off. From 30m North of Boston in Lowell, Ma. Only did the mountains around here. Used to go to Killington alot as a kid. Just went to Jay peak this past winter.
Well Finally after 3 years of talking about it, my buddies and I are headed to Tahoe. We were not real strict on where. It was between Vail/Breckenridge or Tahoe. Well with my parents letting me use some of their timeshare, I'm headed to Tahoe. We will be staying at the Stardust Tahoe. 700ft from casinos, Heavenly is right across the street. Anyone stay there before? Or know the area? Any places or shit I need to do or go? We will be going Febuaray 12-16. Gotta go read reviews for a snowboard bag for planes now, but what you guys think of the trip? |

None of the places you have been too are going to be nearly as nice as Heavenly. The thing is, Heavenly is not really that great of a resort in California. Make sure you go to Kirkwood. It's about 30 minutes from South Lake. That is one bad ass ski area for sure. If you can, making a visit to Squaw is worth your time too. I think it's a 40 or 45 minute drive around the lake to get there.
The nightlife in South Lake is one of the more lively ski town spots to be. You should find plenty of after hours fun stuff to do around there. Prostitution is legal in Nevada after all... |

I agree about Kirkwood. I've been there twice and really liked it.
Although, it depends on what type of boarding you guys are looking to do. I liked the off piste terrain at Kirkwood and the pow was nice...heard they tend to get a little more than some of the other places at tahoe. However, I don't remember much of a park there. This was several years ago, but Squaw's park was definitely bigger thank Kirkwood. I think it is also a little less crowded because it's more of a drive than places like Heavenly. If you are looking for good terrain and like the deep stuff, Kirkwood should be visited at least once. In general, Tahoe will be fun. Ride during the day and have fun at the casinos at night. |

For the most part we are looking for shit we can't get back east.. Powder and glades. I mean you can find them. But not like what I hear its like in tahoe.
We are at the point now where we are trying to figure out where to go and if we should rent a car as well. And there will be much drinking to be done. \ Last edited by sciknen; 08-16-2011 at 08:20 PM. |

You won't need a car for getting around near you hotel, but you'll need a way to get to the mountains. There is likely shuttles or buses to each, but I've always had a car. |
