Hi,

I will be in Montreal over Thanksgiving weekend and am considering taking a day to go snowboarding.

I believe the season is scheduled to start on Thanksgiving, depending on the weather.

Mont Tremblant gets the best reviews online, and Mont Blanc sounds like a cheaper alternative but more for families. All my info so far is from the internet - does anyone have experience or opinions on where to go? (I'm an intermediate snowboarder, learning towards beginner rather than advanced)

I can rent a car if necessary, but I would rather take a bus or shuttle from the airport if that is possible. I looked online, could not find any information yet. Mont Tremblant has a shuttle but it sounds like it only starts in mid December.

Any input re: planning a day trip from Montreal is much appreciated!

Thanks,

David

Tremblant is pretty much the place to go. They call it the "whistler of the east" due to it's ski-in-village setup and AWESOME nightlife.
I'm more about the freeriding so I could care less about Tremblant... but the partying there is OFF THE HOOK! (same goes for the girls)

I'd rather ride up north (Quebec, Saguenay, Gaspe) but that's pretty far from Montreal.
You can however get to the Eastern Township mountians fairly easily. Bromont is only about 40 mins from Montreal (closer than Tremblant) and has the largest night-skiing area in North America. Expect ice, but a decent park. Sutton is in that area too, but a bit further - I haven't been there before but it gets decent reviews and sound like there is some interesting terrain that I wouldn't mind checking out. Also, the Eastern Township mountains get more snow (same Vermont storms) than Tremblant.

So yeah, mainly stick with Tremblant, but hit up Bromont for an evening of night riding, and go to Sutton/Orford/Owls Head for a day if you have the chance.
