Go up the Gondola look at the lift figure out which line has the longest go there that means it's the best get off lift look where it has the most people follow them. Walk down main street read the menu's in front of every business figure out which ones have what you like. Go out at night look for the bar with the most people that don't look like they live here that's where you want to be.

Most people recommended MiCasa in Breck for food. Its probably the best Mexican food I have ever eaten (it is difficult to find really good mexican east of the mississippi). It can get pretty crowded there....I recall them having some kind of happy hour deal where you get cheap tacos(?) or something around 5'ish. Its been a few years now, so my memory is getting fuzzy. Most of my other meals were either at Empire Burger, or delivered pizza.
I wasn't that impressed with Red Orchid (chinese) or Michael's (Italian)... but I guess they were ok. |

Empire burger is excellent! I also enjoy going to the Breckenridge Brewery to eat but expect like a 2 hour wait on the weekends during peak season. It gets crowded fast but for good reason. I can't think of the name of the Mexican restaurant but walking down main street there is that little loop, I think they have a donkey statue out near main street but its back there. As far as trails it depends on your riding style and ability. If you are an intermediate rider hit up peak 7. If you are more beginner I would say 9 is a good mellow starting place. BTW I will be out there in December as well.

This idea had been crossing my mind to try and get away from the killer on mountain pricing. |

Empire burger is near the top of the hill on main street where it comes across to the resort. Literally from the base of peak 9 you walk through the lodge or around it and go to the street. Make a right and you can basically see it right in front of you. Probably the closest place to the resort that you can eat. Easily doable in snowboard boots.

FWIW I really like Mountain Flying Fish for Sushi/Japanese. Also, you gotta get a cookie from the place on main St., don't worry you'll smell it just follow your nose. Oh yeah, noticed a Cannabis Club not too far away from the cookie place last time I was there, coincidence?

My memory is definitely fuzzy, but it is probably a 5 to 7 minute walk from the lift line to the door of empire burger. You have to walk past the shops at the base of the mountain, then across the street.
MiCasa is roughly the same distance (more snaking through buildings required), but I did not get the feeling that it was the sort of place most people come trudging in off of the mountain to eat lunch at. Its nicer, the food takes longer, etc. I only went to MiCasa for dinner though, so I might be wrong. |
