Snowboarding In Virginia Area - Snowboarding Forum

My Fiancee and I live in Charlottesville Va and want to get the most out of this season for snowboarding. We are lucky enough to live close to Wintergreen and Massanutten, which are both decent slopes, but we're hoping to broaden our horizons. The only problem is we both have quite a crappy work schedule and find ourselves getting off work no earlier than 4pm daily. Weekends are always open, but we find it redundant to drive 4 hours to only get to ride for 1. We were hoping to be enlightened to some good slopes within the East side of W.Va or South Pa that would be worth the drive. Or maybe even some great evening/night riding in our vicinity. We'd be stoked to find some new ones even if they're small and under the radar. If possible, please include a brief description and location of the slopes that you will be recommending. Thanks!

I would recommend Snowshoe in WV. I did a small weekend trip there 2 years ago and had a blast, it should only be around a 3 hr drive for you.

Yes agreed agreed don't waste your time with any other place. I follow them on Facebook because they are my home resort. Just take 81 hit 64 west and you'll get off not too far and then climb a couple mountains (hills really) to get there. Last weekend I went there was 6 inches of fresh snow 2 weeks before they closed and they didn't groom so it was awesome. Anyway all the other places will be ice most the season like winter place wv. Otherwise head north.

Btw perfect for weekend trips and actually I used to do day triPs there from Radford va

Yeah winterplace is horrible haha, I'm in Blacksburg, and tried it out since its the closest thing to me. What. A. Joke. My buddy and I ended up building our own jumps just to cure our boredom.

Agreed with Snowshoe. I grew up in Richmond and made a yearly trip out there when I was younger. Much better than Wintergreen and Massanutten.
