Im heading out to Colorado for a 10 day trip over new year and the next week. Hitting up Loveland on the way into the mountains and then staying at steamboat for a few day with a friend and heading to breck for a few days with my family.
Just wondering how the conditions have been out there this year. I know its been cold but I've herd there hasn't been much snow. Regardless it will be great getting out of Ohio. Will be in steamboat over new years and was wondering what some good bars are? I like smaller country style bars, pool tables n all that good shit. Thanks Henry

Also I'm thinking about my boards. Should I take:
1) 11 Academe propaganda 156 reverse - the reverse camber is minimal close to flat. fun solid board holds an edge well. 2) 08 Ride society 157 - always been a super solid, do it all board. 3) Both and choose when I'm out there. I'll be riding a little of everything. Parks, shoots (snow permitting), cats, moguls, and everything in between.

You should be hitting Taos, Wolf Creek, Silverton, and Purgatory. Terrain is pretty limited at the resort you are going too. I believe 25% open is about the most at any of those. Steamboat might have a bit more. So I doubt you'll be doing any chutes, you might find some tree runs with just enough coverage, but snow snakes are going to be just under the snow waiting to strike. Breck's park is reportedly great, so you'll have fun there. Just don't break yourself, some of that stuff you'll want your big boy pants and health insurance up to date for.
As far as Steamboat goes, the Tug Boat is a legendary ski bar. Has everything you are looking for, it'll be popular. The other lively one should be Slopeside. Both are located on the Northerly side of the base area. I believe the Tugboat is by the Christy lift. It's a bummer man, last season, you would have had epic conditions, while the Southern areas I mentioned had dick. Even though it's a La Nina season, everything has flip flopped. You should still have fun, but terrain is going to be limited. |

snow report sounds a little grim that sucks. I'm sure it will still be a good time tho. ya I remember hearing about it "the November to remember!". I was actually supposed to go to breck between Christmas and new years but my work fucked me and decided to schedule us to work about 2 prior. I never booked my tickets luckily because we had herd rumors they were going to (union and company have been at it for about 2 years now). Would have been awesome to be out there for it!
My stays are rather limited. I'm staying with a co-workers kid in steamboat for a case of beer and my family is getting a condo in breck. I'm not going to complain about staying on the cheap tickets are pricey enough! lol
