Alyeska Reviewd

Alright so heres my report:

I purchased the ski and stay package which included 25$ of credit to your room, a nights stay and an all day lift pass (1030am-530pm). I had planned to stay the 10th - 13th but high winds and 2 avalanches on the Seward highway made me shift my reservations to the next day and was easily done with no hassles.

I arrived Wednesday about 1 oclock and they had plenty of clean rooms so that I could check in early. The room was top notch quality and I immediately setup my board and got on the slopes.
This was my first time going to a mountain on this scale and my mind was blown. The first day there was around 3" of snow and was snowing the whole afternoon of the 11th.

I awoke on the 12th to find 12+ inches of powder and it was still snowing. I immediately got dressed and got the first tram up. the feeling of floating on all of that fresh powder was indescribable. It was amazing! All of the runs that day were full of freshies and they had almost all of the runs and bowls open for shredding! I stayed out all day with no breaks because I knew my time with fresh powder was limited.

On the 13th there was more snow on the ground but the mountain crew had some of the lower mountain runs groomed, in my opinion awesomely done. they opened up High Traverse and was able to hit some runs that were closed on Thursday because of avalanche danger. I met 2 guys from Oregon who had come up for the weeekend and hung with them for the next two days. we found unlimited amounts of kickers and were able to hike to some fresh powder that had been untouched.

The last day there was hovering around 3 degrees so I didn't stay out for too long and the runs that had the best powder started to get real chopped up and icy conditions.

Overall this was probably the greatest moment of my life, from the amazing scenery of Alaska, the friendly people I met, to the amount of runs and fun I had, I couldn't have asked for more! I would recommend this resort to anyone willing to make the trip and am definitely gonna be able to get back to there atleast one more time this winter.

My phone was the only thing that i could take pictures with but I'll put some of the good ones up later on.

Only thing I worry about is all the man made snow at my local hills, I may cry haha.

Alyeska is an awesome resort experience with their lodge and tram, the view on top is about as good as it gets too. With 15" of fresh I bet it was spectacular.

It was amazing. Just short little hikes, but since I'm inexperienced in that backcountry and was my first trip up there I just wanted to get a lay of the land for the next time I go.
