Mt. Hood next week

Hey, my wife and I will be there this coming Fri/Sat/Sun. Where should we go? People have told me Meadows is the best and Timberline is cool, too. We like Blues and Blacks, long runs, and I enjoy dipping into the trees.

For that matter, any recommendations on where to stay? I see there is a Best Western in Government Camp, that looks decent. We just want a hot tub and a place that isn't a dump. Thanks!

Go find Snowolf at Meadows. It will be well worth it if you do.

Oh yeah!? Well, my mom says I'm cool!

If you ride park, timberline hands down. Meadows is largest and has more terrain but the forecast isnt calling for any snow this week but that could always change. Meadows also tends to be the most crowded on weekends. Ski bowl is awesome when there is powder but runs are short and lifts are slow.

Great info, thanks. Is it typically an issue getting up the mountain? I don't see any storms in the forecast for Thurs when we get in, so without a storm should we bother paying extra for AWD rental? I'm leaning toward no.

I'm hoping the snow you guys got recently holds out for us and results in decent conditions.

Thanks for all your advice, and I hope that someday we can take advantage of it. However, we've decided to cancel/postpone our trip. It's just too much money to get from Vegas to Mt. Hood and not have epic or near-epic conditions. Snow forecast isn't looking good and I can ride on ice much closer to home than Oregon. Hopefully a different weekend works out better for us...

Conditions have definitely been less then epic most of the time this season. If I were you I would save the money and make a visit here in the summer for some slush riding. Or wait till spring when we usually get more snow

Good to know you get more snow in the spring.

Yeah, we were planning hotels and stuff and it all of a sudden hit me: this trip is gonna be like $1000 and we don't even know if the riding will be awesome? Time to reconsider.

We were bummed, too. Meadows sounds awesome.
