Where to stay in Pagosa? - Snowboarding Forum

Ive been looking through a bunch of hotel reviews in pagosa, and I really havent found any decent hotels. Im not looking to spend a lot of money per night, but I was look at the "Alpine Inn", and even though it had good reviews, it also had some reviews where people stated " I dont know who wrote these reviews, but this place is terrible! " .. Can anyone throw out some names of some decent hotels that they have stayed in, and also the names of hotels i should avoid?

I am planning on checking in a on a Thursday, and checking out on Sunday. I think there will be three of us going " my wife, a friend, and myself" so basically we will roll in there, check in; drop our stuff; go boarding; come back; change clothes; hit up the restaurants / bars; go back, and pass out. Not looking to hang out much @ the hotel, just mainly a place to store our stuff, take a shower, and pass the F out.

I would like to keep the rooms under 100 dollars a night if possible, I am also willing to stay further away from Wolf Creek..

Stay at tuw hot springs its really nice. I think they have motels around it

There have been some guest conflicts with the manager of that property. To be honest I think it is someone who stayed there holding a grudge against the Hotel. You may also want to consider looking at staying in Southfork. Not as nice of a town as Pagosa, but it's about the same length of time to drive up the pass from the Southfork side as it is the Pagosa. Southfork has the advantage that if the pass is closed, it is closed after the ski area. So you can still get there. Granted, Wolf Creek employees live on both sides of the pass, so their operations would be limited, but they generally get a few lifts spinning on these days. Which of course are some of the best you can have when that happens...

We stayed at the San Juan Hotel a couple of nights in August. It was a basic hotel, nothing fancy but we got two good nights of sleep after driving from Seattle and starting a weeklong bike ride.

Not sure how it would be in winter but it seemed reasonably well built.

How is the boarding at Wolf Creek? Saw the resort briefly as we were descending off of the pass.

You're a life saver, we some how added 4 more people to the trip, so we all just rented a cabin in Southfork. Really awesome to know that if things get crazy, at least the pass will be open. I think I will spend my time attempting to own the bunny slope, so hopefully if the weather makes a turn for the worse " or better ? " they will open the bunny slope =D.

On a side note, it's rather inexpensive to go snowboarding once you put it all down on paper, lessons add a nice size chunk to the trip, but after those are out of the way weekend trips do not seem like they would cost all that much. This definitely could turn into the greatest hobby I have ever had lol. Thanks for the reply.

Hey just got back from wolf creek. we stayed at a big ass house 2-3 miles from pagosa springs. It was amazing. Beautiful views of the mountains. In the middle of the woods. Fiore pit. And dirtttt cheap. Pm me if you want more info. We also had some friends staying at the sgs resort with the 23 hot springs. Got to say.. that was the tits. Next time I go to or wolf creek I will be staying at the springs resort.
