Tahoe Dec 7th-9th

Have to be in San Fran for work next week but want to hit Tahoe sat and sun.

Looks like they are going to get hammered this weekend so hoping there will still be some decent coverage.

Anyways, I have never been and want to get some opinions on which mountain to hit up if I can only go for one or two days.

I ride all mountain, hit the park a little bit but mostly like bombing down steeps and tree runs. My buddy that is coming with me has never been and wants to take a lesson the first day.

Taking the above into consideration, where should I go? Which hill is going to have the most open terrain?

Northstar or Heavenly, they are really the only big resorts with enough snow making equiptment to make a difference. They run the guns as soon as they can, and they're usually the resorts with the most open coverage for early season conditions.

There is also Squaw Valley, which is doing awesome this early season. Also with this storm going on i can see them having almost all of there top mountian runs open

I'd say Northstar, cause they have a great snowmaking system, and its not quite as steep so it seems to me that it usually has the most terrain open early season.

Squaw is fantastic and has more variety of terrain. Plus, they have a ton of instructors on and around the hill for your buddy. Northstar is nice but has more of a family rep I think.

Note- squaw also has extensive snowmaking capability and right next door is alpine, which is good too and may be quieter. A free shuttle runs between the 2 all day.
